I met Tom beginning of 80s when he came to France for IBM Project . This picture was taken in Poughkeesie during one of my visit . On the original picture we see tom with already a nice T-Shirt (hope the transfer did not cut him too much) . I keep a nice souveneer of all my meetings with him during this period . I knew Tom through SABR. He was a major part of the development of Retrosheet. That work has greatly enhanced our knowledge of major league baseball going back to the early 20th century. I was recently working on a baseball project using Retrosheet, and thought: I'd like to talk with Tom about this. I am very happy to have known him through SABR meetings past, and am thankful for his major "labor of love", baseball, outside of his family of course! We continue to benefit from his major avocation. Requiescat in pace, Thomas.

I did not know the details of Tom's personal and work life. To me, he was part of the big Travis family connected by marriage. When I read these words in his obituary however, Tom's energy and optimism are palpable. That is what he spread around him. That is what I will always treasure; being in that sphere of positivity. The world has grown a bit darker these days as Tom's light moves to wherever it is we go...another thing he knows now that we do not.

Eileen and family - We are so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. We both worked with Tom and have fond memories not only of how great he was to work with, but of how it brightened any day to bump into him in the hallway, cafeteria, or outdoors walking the Poughkeepsie site. He always had a great baseball story or New Paltz reminiscence at the tip of his tongue. And, of course, an interesting T-shirt. Tom will be missed by many and live on in many memories.

I am deeply saddened by Tom´s passing. My thanks to his family for sharing him with us at IBM for many years. He was a great lunch companion to us and always had a great story, I often was amazed by how much baseball knowledge he had off the top of his head. I loved his Austin weird t shirt and will always remember him fondly.
Very sorry for your loss.
