In memory of
Kevin Collins
October 15, 2020
Just found out about Tom's passing. So sad. Tom, Tim and I were friends in Norwalk and went to grade school together. Our first rock concert was at Cleveland Public Hall in 1965 (?) and we saw The Who, Herman's Hermits and the Blues Magoos (whose suites lit up when the lights were turned down). We had front row seats and Tom caught the neck of the broken Rickenbacker guitar thrown into the audience by Pete Townshend! Great memories of a great childhood friend. God bless you Tom!
Tim, if you see this, please contact me. Kevin Collins 1176 Wittmer Road Mansfield, OH 44903 (419) 631-1827.

This is heartbreaking news. I worked with Tom for many years and had great respect for him and his work. He will be missed; my thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Tom was my best friend in high school. We spent a lot of time together, and with his brother Tim, sitting in his tree house in the back yard listening to music. I went to a number of concerts with Tom and Tim. I was with him in Cleveland to see the Beatles and just about every time the Who came to Cleveland. Tom was a quiet and passonate friend, I wish we would have kept in touch through the years. I hope for the peace that will come knowing Tom will no longer suffer and is at home with his Father and parents. I offer my sincere condolences to his wife and family.

Tom was in my high school class. I remember him as a quiet and likable person. He always had kindness in his eyes. I see he went to the same electronic school I did only the Akron branch. I never really got to know him very well and I feel a sense of loss for that. I want to offer my sincere condolences to Toms wife and family.

Dear Schafer Family,
I had the pleasure of working with Tom for many years in the Engineering dept. at WOIO/WUAB. I watched him deal with his health issues for many years, yet I never heard him complain. We shared a great give-n-take of electrical knowledge when either of us needed a hand. Much of his work lives on today at our station. We have a very small group of special engineers, so when one leaves, it has a big impact. He was a colleague and a friend. We will all miss him. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Having worked with him at WOIO for so many years, I saw how hard he fought. He had an incredible work ethic. He rarely let it affect his job. Even when his treatments increased he would insist on making up the time. He had a vast knowledge of the place, often the only one there who knew the system. We'll all miss him. My deepest sympathies to his family.
