August 26, 1919 ~ September 28, 2009Thomas Dan Sears, of Bryan (formerly of Orange) went to be with his Lord Monday, September 28, 2009 at the age of 90.Tom was born in Whitewright, Texas to Charles Byron and Gladys Virginia Sears. He was a long time active member of Orange Park Avenue United Methodist Church where he served many years on the Administrative Board and other positions of the church. He helped build the church building on Park Avenue. In January 2006, Orange Park Avenue and St. John Methodist merged as Faith United Methodist Church, where Tom stayed active even during his illness. Tom and his wife Sue were active members for over 50 years.Tom was employed at Agricultural Adjustment Administration in Gainesville, Texas, and the Gainesville National Bank. He retired as Manager of Orange Wholesale Grocery Company (Branch of Consolidated Wholesale Companies, of New Orleans)He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Byron and Gladys Virginia Gillett Sears.A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., October 2, 2009 at Trevino Smith Funeral Home in Bryan. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the College Station Memorial Cemetery in College Station, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Kissel of Faith United Methodist Church of Orange, Texas.Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years of marriage, Sue Sears of Bryan; daughter, Janet Willie and husband, Marvin of Mountain Home, Tx; son, Dan Sears and wife, Pattie of College Station; granddaughters, Christi Tipton of Houston, Staci Palermo and husband, Damon of The Woodlands, Traci Slocum of College Station; great grandchildren, Tayler Slocum, Jordyn Slocum, Haley Slocum, Jaxon Slocum, Nick Palermo, Toni Palermo and Luke Palermo; sister, Sue Eckstein and husband Sid of Arlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.The family is very grateful to the staff of Hospice Brazos Valley for the care they gave to Tom, as well as support to the entire family. Per family request, in lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Hospice Brazos Valley 502 W. 26th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803.

Sue,
Words can not begin to express our sympathy to you and your family at this time of great loss.
Tom was such a gentleman, kind and such a joy to know.
Charles and I, the children and grandchildren, will always treasure the years we had you and Tom for next door neighbors.We loved you both. Our love and prayers are still with you now,Sue.

Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with the Sears family. My husband and I lived behind the Sears' in Orange up until they moved to Bryan. What an honor it was to have know Mr. Sears. He was such a wonderful, kind man.

Sorry to hear about Tom. We have such wonderful memories of two special neighbors and friends. We will forever be grateful. Lori and Chad send their prayers also.
I especially remember Tom and Shirley out on those Snapper mowers.
