Thomas E. “Sonny” Southerland, 78, of 2-G Hillcrest Annex, Wilmington died Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro.
He was born on March 17, 1941 in New Hanover, NC to Thomas and Pearl Ruth Boney Southerland.
The Celebration of his life will be held Saturday at 11 AM, at the St. Luke Church of Christ. His mortal remains will be laid to rest in the Fremont Cemetery.
Precious memories are held dear by his fiancé , Sarah Taylor; his children, Anita McKeithan, Wilmington, NC, Fontella Whitaker, Wilmington, NC, Marlon Dortch, Greenbelt, MS, Anitha Freeman, Dudley, NC and Taneasha Sellars, Charleston, SC; his goddaughter, Tonya Atkinson, Goldsboro, NC; his godsister, Jackie Allen, Wilmington, NC; his godchildren, Charles Taylor, Rock Taylor, Antonio Taylor, Cathy Cleckley and Trikitia Taylor; and a host of other dear relatives, and friends.
Visitation Friday from 2 PM – 6 PM at the funeral home. The family will assemble at 903 B. Lincoln Dr., in preparation for the funeral cortege.
