Mrs Stanly,
Jack gave me a great opportunity when he hired me over 30 years ago. Over the years he was still my old boss, but even more he was a friend. I won't go over how we, a young faculty, must have tried his patience and sanity, but his guidance and some years have helped me appreciate what he was doing. I know I accomplished many things that would not have happened but for his encouragement and positive attitude.
Coffee breaks at Shipley's, listening to him recount the weekend fox hunt, and our quail hunting together... good times. Having coffee with the two of you in your home when Judy and I made it back to Nacogdoches was another time to enjoy his enthusiasm and stories. One of my former colleagues described Jack as "Fine Wine" and he was correct. And, as Jack said during our last visit, "Its been a good run." Should we all be so lucky.
Thinking of you and yours, Mike Watkins

Dear Becky,
I have enjoyed my friendship with both of you over the years since working as Jack's secretary in the SFA Department of Agriculture. Jack was very knowledgeable, always kind and very much a "Gentleman". I am so glad we had a chance to visit with you both recently.
You are in my thoughts. Take care of yourself. We will keep in touch.
Love, Judy Watkins

Dear Family:
I spoke to some of you at the funeral home, but did not get to speak to all of you. I just want you to know what a wonderful man your father was to other people. I worked as his secretary in the SFA Department of Agriculture for a little over 9 years. If everyone had a boss like him, no one would ever dread going to work. He was so wonderful to me. I cannot tell you how special he was to me.

Dear Family,
I have such fond memories of your father and my dad fox hunting, talking about growing up in the south during the depression, and their views on life and family. He was a wonderful man of whom my dad thought of as a great friend. My sincere condolences to you all.

Vince and Becky;
In the event I do not get a chance to see you, I offer my condolences and my prayers to you both. Becky, I always enjoyed the times I got to visit with your Dad. Over coffee at the Bank and even at times when he wanted to talk about his taxes. Your classmate, Gary Woods.
