Thomas "Tom" Stewart

Hard to believe it has been a year. I think about Tom often and the good times we had. He is sorely missed

Tom was one of the brightest and most creative person I have ever known. I was fortunate enough to work closely with him at both Rohm and Haas and Polysciences. I considered him a very close and supportive friend. I will never forget him.

Tom and I have been close friends for over 40 years and shared many adventures together. The following highlights some of them:

I first met Tom kayaking on the Nescopeck Stream in the early 1980´s (it was in flood and I think both of us "swam"). We became friends and paddled many whitewater streams with the Wilmington Trail Club and the splinter group "39ish paddlers" over the next 35+ years. Tom and I kayaked the Grand Canyon with our wives on the support raft. Kayaking trips on southern and western rivers, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Canada followed over the years. I became dependent on Tom´s skill to get me out of trouble and provide entertainment to the group both on and off the rivers. Tom was an excellent paddler and a joy to be with.

Tom and his wife Maureen introduced me to skiing in the 2000´s. Tom and I skied the East Coast and out west (Salt Lake are mostly) Tom was helpful in critiquing my skiing ("you really screwed that run up") and we enjoyed skiing together.

Tom, Ted and I hiked together many times over the last 15 years and enjoyed our discussions during the hikes. Tom and I went to Scotland about 8 years ago to hike on the Isle of Sky and then a week in Edinburgh where I met his long time Scottish Friends.

I will truly miss him
