Thomas Summers Obituary

Thomas H. Summers, 73, of Hampton, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary Ltd., East Moline, with the Rev. Toni Ross officiating. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. East Moline American Legion Post 227 and VFW Post 2056 will conduct military rites at the burial. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice, Hampton Youth Committee or Grace United Methodist Church, East Moline.
Thomas was born Sept. 26, 1932, in Vincennes, Ind., to Harold and Isabelle (Muckenstorm) Summers. He married Theresa Hull on Sept. 12, 1970, at Grace United Methodist Church, East Moline. He was an advertising specialist at Midwest Publishing for 24 years, retiring in 2003. He served in the Navy during the Korean War.
He was a member Grace United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of Hampton Youth Committee and could be seen very active during softball season. Tom brought the very first four Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurants to the Quad-City area and managed them. He bought Archer's Boys and Girls apparel store in Davenport.
Survivors include his wife, Terri; one daughter, Karen Andrews, Vincennes, Ind.; four sons, Chad and (Tosh) Summers, Hampton, Ill., Stephen Summers, Moline, Craig and (Valerie) Summers, Hollywood, Fla., and Keenan and (Rita) Summers, Vincennes, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his mother and father.
