THOMAS--Thomas Neil.

"Thom" Thomas died on December 2, 2015 in Los Angeles, CA. Playwright, TV and film writer, teacher, director, mentor and precious friend to many, Thom was actively working on stage and film projects until diagnosed with leukemia two weeks before his passing. He was born on August 31, 1935 in Lawrence, PA, near Pittsburgh. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University, and his long career in the performing arts began with directing plays and musicals in the Pittsburgh area, and with teaching acting and directing at the Pittsburgh Playhouse and Point Park University. In 1975 he moved to New York City to concentrate on playwriting, with several plays produced in regional theaters, Off-Broadway and in London, England. In 1981 he was offered TV writing work that resulted in moving to Los Angeles where he and his beloved partner of 42 years, Janis Purins, settled in the Silverlake area and were married last year.
