Thomas Turnan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 10, 2025.
Thomas J. Turnan, age 68, of Long Beach, California, passed away on January 18, 2025, at Long Beach Memorial Hospital after a battle with cancer.

Tom was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey to Edward and Miyo Turnan on October 16, 1956. He graduated from Seaside High. He married Dolores Patricia Marquez on December 12, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was retired but always loved working on and in the automotive industry; his last position as Parts Manager at Monterey Jaguar where he was inducted into the Jaguar Master Guild. During his life and in his retirement, he honed his talent and skill in home renovation and other beautiful woodworking projects which he lovingly completed for his family and many friends in the Long Beach area. Tom will truly be missed and always remembered for his willingness to help and his dry sense of humor!

Tom is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dolores, who was the love of his life!

Tom is survived by his stepchildren Rosa, Angel, and Anthony; his siblings Margaret (Eric) Sanico, Rose (Ron) Petty, Michael (Jean) Turnan, and Caroline (Ken) Dopplick; his step-grandchildren Azalia, Christopher, and Amelia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition, Tom is survived by his brother-in-law, Anthony Marquez and his wife, Christine, who were very close to him and were always there for him.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Tom touched are invited to the Celebration of Life (Tom style), from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Oscar's Playground, 685 Cannery Row, Third Floor, Monterey.

We all miss you so much!! You were always up for our family poker games during the holidays. There will be a void in our hearts this year. You are in a better place, no pain and at peace, together with the love of your life Dolores.

Tom,
You weren´t just my stepdad; you were a true father figure, a guiding light, and a constant source of love and support. "Even in my teen rebellious years. "
We are truly blessed to have had you in our lives.
We are proud to have had a stepfather like you.
Thank you for being the rock my mom needed. Thank you for being there for her, supporting her, and making her feel loved and appreciated. I just want to know
I´m so grateful to have you as my stepdad.
I´ll carry your love and legacy with me always. You will be missed and loved every day.

With love and deepest respect,
Your daughter
Angel

Uncle T -- One of my earliest memories, being babysat by you...and lounging on my parents giant orange bean bag watching an A's baseball game. Complaining how boring the game was and wanting to watch something else (Still thinks baseball is boring). To one of my fondest memories, having Uncle T watch my twin boys and coming home to him sitting in our giant rocking chair, with the twins perched on him like a tree. To see them find comfort with him, speaks to the type of energy he possessed.

It's not the grand moments, but it was the simple mundane moments with Uncle T that I hold close to my heart. We loved the way you loved, and we are at peace knowing you are no longer in pain and back with the love of your life.
