Thomas "Tom" Lawrence Wright, age 74, of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. He was born on April 11, 1942 in Washington, DC, the son of the late Frank Nelson Wright and Ellen Heid Wright. Tom graduated from St. John's College High School in 1960 and the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1964, and attended Pennsylvania State University for graduate school in mechanical engineering. Tom proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 until 1969, including service in the Vietnam War, and was Ranger/Airborne qualified. Most of Tom's professional career was spent with the Tennessee Valley Authority as a mechanical engineer. Most recently, he worked as a Supervising Mechanical Engineer with WorleyParsons in Chattanooga. He was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Geraldine L. Wright of Knoxville; daughter, Megan K. Wright of Knoxville; sister, Nancy W. Greene of Kensington, MD and husband, Peter; brother, William F. Wright of Costa Mesa, CA and wife, Jean; brother, James F. Wright of Germantown, MD; brother-in-law John L. Leonard, III of Wilmington, NC and wife, Betsy; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM, Friday at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Reverend Father David Boettner officiating. Interment to follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
