Thomas Yasewicz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 12, 2017.
BOW – Thomas A. Yasewicz, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend died peacefully at his home in the early hours of Thursday, April 6, 2017, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Tom was a first generation American, born Thomas A. Jasiewicz to Polish immigrant parents Casimir and Josephine (Philip) on Dec. 18, 1929, in Frackville, Pa.   He had five sisters, Wanda, Elizabeth, Kay, Jenny and Blanche and four brothers, Ziggie, Charles, Ted and Ed.

Upon graduating from Frackville High School in 1948, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served stateside for four years during the Korean Conflict attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.  Upon his return from the Air Force, Tom began his secondary education at Pennsylvania State University. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Millie (Zarutskie), whom he had met just prior to his enlistment and written to every day while serving.

As they started their family, Tom continued his studies receiving his Bachelor's Degree in 1957 from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa.  In his early career as an Electrical Engineer, Tom worked for RCA and Philco in Pennsylvania. In 1964, Tom and Millie moved to New Hampshire with their four children, Janice, Tommy, Mark and Claire where Tom would work for Sprague Electric Company in Concord until his retirement in 1989.  The family moved to Bow in 1967.

Tom was a devoted family man who loved his home, a place where all were welcome any time, day or night, announced or unannounced.  He believed that all people were equal and, while being somewhat reserved, he never shied away from sharing this fundamental belief, even before it was popular or politically correct to do so.  A devout Christian, he never hesitated to help a friend or stranger in need and he was well known for his kind and gentle spirit.  He was an accomplished golfer, a skilled "do-it-yourselfer", and an enthusiast of all nature has to offer.  He loved nothing more, however, than traveling with his family, especially long cross country summer trips in the family station wagon and frequent visits to extended family in Pennsylvania.

Tom leaves his loving wife of 62 years, Millie, and their beloved children and grandchildren, Janice and Ray Fournier of Palm Harbor, Fla. and their daughter, Ashley; Tom and Ann Yasewicz of Colchester, Vt. and their children, Elizabeth, Tommy and Grace; Mark Yasewicz of Bow; and Claire and Paul Kennedy of Geneva, Switzerland and their children Charlotte and Peter.

Tom is also survived by his dear brothers and their wives, Ted and Marie Jasiewicz of Westboro, Mass. and Ed and Hazel Jasiewicz of Boylston, Mass.  He also leaves so many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and wonderful friends and neighbors who supported Millie and Mark through Tom's long struggle with Alzheimer's, especially Bruce and Sue Macey of Concord.

There will be no formal calling hours but visitors are welcome at the family home any time.

A memorial mass and celebration of Tom's life will be planned for mid summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's name to Christ the King Parish, 72 South Main St., Concord, NH  03301.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Bennett Funeral Home of Concord. Online condolences can be expressed at bennettfuneral.com.

Millie and family, I know I haven't seen you in a long time, but the minute I saw Tom's name, it brought back memories of being neighbors on Morton Street so many years ago. From the obituary, it sounds as though Tom had a wonderful life and was so fortunate to stay in his home with his family. Take care and be comforted by your wonderful memories.

Dear Millie and family, we are so saddened to hear of Tom's passing. The obituary was beautifully written and truly expressed what a wonderful man he was. I have heard the stories many times of how this man would leave his bed in the night to help out a certain someone many years ago. And I remember my Mom & her co-workers at Sprague Electric saying "he was such a handsome man."
We know how difficult it has been for the family these past few years, but you all did such a wonderful job to be able to keep Tom in the home that he loved. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all. God Bless.
