Services for Thurman Rumbo, 92, of Chandler are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Eubank Funeral chapel with the Rev. Kim Beckham and Bro. David Tarr officiating.

Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Henderson County, under direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.

Mr. Rumbo died Sept. 2, 2010, in Chandler.

Mr. Rumbo was born March 8, 1918, in Chandler to Frank and Mary Reeder Rumbo.

Thurman was a member of Central Baptist Church of Tyler for 65 years. He served in the Army four years during World War II. He worked at the post office for 35 years before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren when he wasn't working cattle or horses.

Thurman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Benton Rumbo, W.B. Rumbo; and sisters, Tracey Rumbo, Elnora Connley and Eldys Grider.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Gertrude Rumbo of Chandler; sons, Paul and Amy Rumbo of Lindale, Gerald and Mary Rumbo of Ben Wheeler; grandchildren, Jared Rumbo of Ben Wheeler, Brent Rumbo of Navasota, Clay Rumbo of Brownsboro, Renae Martin of Richardson, Amanda Attaway of Van, Christina Stone of Commanche, Iowa, and Sam Rumbo of Lindale; 11 great-grandchildren: Jared P. Rumbo, Abigail Rumbo, Nathan Rumbo, Garrett Rumbo, Cruz Martin, Ezra Martin, Eliza Martin, Luke Rumbo, Shelby Rumbo, Taylor Attaway, Payton Attaway; and sisters, Jewel Stallings, Vola Alexzander and Lavern Maxfield.

Pallbearers include Jared Rumbo, Brent Rumbo, Clay Rumbo, Sam Rumbo, Robert Attaway and Jeff Martin.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
