Thank you for all the wonderful hours of reading and all the Florida history that you imparted. I'm just a faithful reader and former Florida resident.

I had the pleasure of hearing Tim speak on November 11 2017 in St Petersburg. He was entertaining and fascinating to watch in action. A delight.
I was very sorry to hear of his death last year. He was too young.

He was to speak at the library where I worked. I had stayed that night though I wasn't on night duty. He arrived an hour early and I happened to be near the door, recognized him immediately & welcomed him. I had seen him park his car. He wasn't driving the Cadillac. I asked where his old Cadillac was, and we had a conversation for awhile. His program was very funny and educational.

I bought Tim´s first book and was hooked. I have about three I have not read yet and will. Then start back from the first and "take the trip again."

I loved Tim Dorsey from #NEARLY our first meeting at a "hole in the wall" #EdgewaterFlorida bookstore´s sparsely attended book signing event at the millennium. Addicted from reading #FloridaRoadkill, for the next decades I attended numerous of his talks like the one pictured at the #Bookmark in #NeptuneBeachFlorida on maybe his 52birthday, 1/25/2012. He was a master, if not a founder of the literary genre of #AbsurdistFiction. RIP.

I have loved reading Mr. Dorsey's novels, enjoyed his outlandish humor, and hoped to be entertained with his humor 'til the end of my life. Sadly, I and many of my writer friends, embracing about 350 members of the literary association called Brevard Authors Society, have lost a friend we cannot easily replace. We are struggling in our effort to create a memorable link to his name and his work, with an idea about establishing an annual mystery novella contest with a book ward named after Tim Dorsey. We do not know who to contact and how to get an approval from his estate. The Brevard Authors Society is non-profit organization.
If anyone could help us get in touch with Tim Dorsey's family or estate, please let us know at: [email protected]

Thanks to Tim for all the joy he brought me through his novels over the years, and for the humor that helped me in tough times. I feel blessed to have met and spoke with him many times on his book tours. A very sweet man.

I had unfortunately fairly recently discovered Tim's books. I say unfortunately because it's heartbreaking to me knowing there will now be no more so soon after discovering him. I am a proud North Florida native &;have so enjoyed learning about the history of parts of my state I've never been. The literary would has lost one of it's best & funniest writers. RIP

By chance my son and I stumbled upon a book signing/reading at the Volusia County Library in New Smyrna Beach in January 2020. My son had read his books but I had not. At the end of the reading that day, I was a fan. What a humble gentleman and amazing creative writer. My condolences to his family.

I'm a fan - got drawn in by his primary character, Serge Storms - who became a fictional best friend. I was in awe of Tim as a person when I'd send him fan e-mail, and get a personal and prompt response - once on New Year's Day! Tim was a class act - as an author and as a human being, and he'll always be in my heart. I'm so sorry for the family and friends he leaves behind.

My husband introduced me to the world of Serge and our home library consists of most of Tim Dorsey's books. Tim was kind enough to sign a hat and book for my husband's birthday. His family will be in our prayers!

So grateful I found Tim´s books. I most often listened to the audio recordings and hear Serge & Coleman in my head all the time. You & your wonderful writing will be missed. Sincere condolences to family, friends & the legion of fans.

Every January I was looking forward to the next book. I started reading the very first book and couldn't wait for the next one. No matter where I was reading one I would laugh out loud and embarrass my wife, airport, airplane, the beach. I tried to introduce all my friends with great success. Will miss his creativity and wonderful devious mind. Such a loss to all. For those who haven't read his work, please do yourself a favor, you won't regret it. I enjoyed Serve so much that I named my.dog after him, sadly he passed this year also. I will miss them both.

When Tim's latest book at the time was out, I bought a copy at Haslam's book store in St Pete and was in the parking lot reading it waiting for the signing. An old Caddy pulled in next to me and a guy in a floral shirt came to my window and said" He's a pretty good writer don't you think?" I said yes and looked up. It was Tim. I never missed a signing until Haslam's closed and Tim was very gracious and accommodating for signings and photo ops. He will be greatly missed for his books and his sharing of his time

Nobody did life like Timothy Alan Dorsey. Tim could make a complete stranger feel like family. He was an amazing father to two adorable women, Erin and Kelly, totally successful as he was, and a great son, colleague, mentor, and friend.
He was a integral part of our The Tampa Tribune family.
When his father-in-law asked if a priest was going to marry he and Janine, he deadpanned, "No, a cartoonist.''
I watched that ceremony on my fifth anniversary to artist Charles Greacen.
When he wrote his own book years later, Tim would write kind and humorous words for Charley´s book of Florida tales and illustrations.
Tim is irreplaceable. People will enjoy his "The Big Bamboo," "Nuclear Jellyfish," "When Elves Attack," "Pineapple Grenade," "No Sunscreen for the Dead," "Naked Came the Florida Man," "The Tropic of Stupid," and "The Maltese Iguana" books forever. How many ways could his books snuff life using a Cuban cigar, car air bag, an ostrich, exploding Mentos, hot sauce or a beach sand castle?
You know Tim will write some whoppers about the Pearly Gates.

We cannnot find the words to express our sadness. We loved Tim and when we spoke with him in September he was so optimistic about his health. Tim was a student Steve will never forget. Our friendship started in 1977 and we spoke frequently and reminisced over our times hiking, trips to Boston, and how proud of him we were of him. He was so honored when we named our son after him. He was so proud of his daughters! Please accept our sincere condolences and know we are terribly saddened by your loss.
Tim rest peacefully. Gone too soon. With love, Luane and Steve Genest

Tim, you have been the best writer- making my brother and I laugh so much over the years, signing autographs and responding to emails. I love your baseball card. You will be missed greatly by all of us and never, ever forgotten. Lots of love to your family and friends. You never stopped making us laugh and helping us to think of more funny stuff.

I am a returning citizen and served numerous years inside. While incarcerated and at the time, in solitary confinement, one of the fellas asked if I had ever heard of Tim Dorsey, at that time, I had not. This was late 2011. He passed down a book titled "Triggerfish Twist", which to this day is one of the funniest books I´ve ever read. I was hooked, as were(are) many others behind the walls and fences. Tim´s books brought many of us laughter in a dark place and had everybody looking forward to the next adventure of Serge and Coleman.
I was personally devastated when my wife told me of the news of Tim´s passing. Ironically, we moved to Florida a couple of months ago and I was planning on going to one of his Serge adventure tours this year. My heart felt condolences to his family and friends. The world is a bit darker than it was before, but heaven is smiling down upon us and I know that there are a lot of angels and saints sharing a good belly laugh with the man.
Rest in peace and thank you for bringing me laughter and happiness to my life when I needed it the most. You will be dearly missed.

My brother introduced me to his books. I´ve read them all. He signed several of my books. I remember seeing him at Barnes n Noble and thinking, " but he looks so normal." He will be greatly missed. Sending love to his family.
