In memory of
JIM O'BRIEN
February 12, 2021
We miss our monthly meetings of the Good Guys. We have not been able to meet the past year because of restrictions relating to numbers allowed to be seated in restaurants. We truly enjoy each other's company and contributions and gain something from each meeting. That's why we especially miss Tim Nettles. He was nice to everyone he met. He was so proud of his wife Diane and their family. He shared stories about them. He set a high standard for the rest of us. He still comes to mind and to mention, so we won't soon forget him or his family. Sincerely, Jim O'Brien

Every time I see a photo of Tim Nettles I think of Bill Hillgrove, the popular sports voice of Pittsburgh. Both have been garrulous gentlemen, full of fun, good stories and a passion for playing golf. Tim and his kids are better golfers than Hillgrove. Tim was giving of himself and I always said he was a poster boy for The Good Guys, a luncheon group that meets each month at Atria's to celebrate sports and life in general. We miss him so much. I know the wait staff misses him because he was kind and generous. Diane, I will say a prayer for you and Tim today. I just did. Tim Nettles was a Good Guy, indeed.

This is surreal. I had no idea it was the first anniversary of Tim's passing, but I said his name last night while having dinner with my wife Kathie at Atria's Restaurant & Tavern in McMurray. I believe Tim had a financial interest in that restaurant. I told Kathie how much he was missed at the Good Guys Luncheon. He may have been the most generous and positive-spirited individual in our group and we were lucky he came our way. Hopefully, Diane and the boys are doing alright. Best wishes, Jim O'Brien, founder and coordinator of Good Guys

Diane, Chuck and Tommy, words can not express my sorrow.Tim was one of the best persons in the world, the fairest and most honest person I have had the privilege of knowing. Tim came to Pittsburgh in 1989 to start the Pittsburgh office, and it was an honor to call him my friend for the past 28 years

So sad to hear the passing of Tim. I work for Enterprise in Baltimore where Tim was the first GM of our Group. I started in Baltimore when Tim moved to Pittsburgh. Although I never worked for him, I did meet him and he came to our 20 year Baltimore Group anniversary party. What a great man. My deepest sympathy to the Nettles family. Tim will always be fondly remembered here in Baltimore.

I am so sorry for your loss Diane and family. Tim really was a wonderful man and I enjoyed working for him for almost 17 years. The first time I spoke to him I wanted to transfer from D.C. to the new Pittsburgh office that was opening. I was really nervous when he called me. He asked me why I wanted to go to Pittsburgh, when I said I was from the area he kept asking me where until I finally told him it was a town he had never heard of New Florence. I was absolutely shocked when he started naming families and places from there. He had a way of putting you at ease.
I pray that God will give you and your family peace during this difficult time and the months ahead.

I was so saddened to read of Tim's passing. I only knew Tim from doing his framing for the past twenty years, but he was such a joy when he came into the shop. His enthusiasm and energy were contagious. I just had the most enjoyable conversation with him this week when he picked up projects for Chuck and Sarah he was so excited about. Our deepest condolences to the family.

I first met Tim in 1989 when he visited a property on Babcock Blvd. Ross Townxhip. At that time no one was aware of Enterprise Rent-a-Car but his genuine enthusiasm and confidence made me a believer immediately. We made an agreement and the rest is history.Tim Nettles was a leader. A man of character and who was proud of his family. So few people have the love for family that this very special human being had for each of you. God bless his soul.

Tim Nettles joined The Good Guys Luncheon Group of the South Hills in its second year of three years and quickly became one of its most ardent, enthusiastic and generous members. He could have been the poster boy for The Good Guys. When he won the 50/50 drawing he promptly donated it to the Guardian Angel Service Dogs for Veterans, one of the groups favorite projects. We will all miss him dearly.
He loved to tell us about his wife, Diane, and their two sons, Tom and Doug, and show us pictures of his family. He was, indeed, the No. 1 Good Guy. -- From Jim O'Brien

Wherever I went and said I work for Enterprise they new his name. Condolences and prayers to his family.
