Timothy Steven Fitzgerald Sr.

68, of Holden Beach, NC formerly of Canton Ohio, passed
away on Sunday, the seventeenth of September, 2017 in New
Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC, under the
care of Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
Born in Canton, Ohio on the twenty ninth of April, 1949, he was a
son of the late James Francis Fitzgerald, Sr. and Ann Frances
Toth Fitzgerald.
Tim was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. James "Jim"
Fitzgerald, Jr.
He graduated from Lehman High School and went on to Kent
State University and Akron University where he earned two
Bachelor's degrees in Education. "Coach Fitz" was a defensive coordinator
football coach and taught at St. Thomas Aquinas High
School, Canton, OH, Perry High School, Massillon, OH, Walsh
Jesuit High School, Akron, OH and the latter part of his career at
West Brunswick and South Brunswick High Schools as defensive
coordinator and head track coach. He was also a veteran of the
US military.
Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-eight years, Kathy
L. Fitzgerald; sons, Timothy Steven Fitzgerald, Jr. and wife
Tammy of Manassas, VA, Daniel Arnold and wife Melissa of
Winston-Salem, NC; daughters, Mindi Long of Varnamtown,
NC, Kimberly Brice and husband Charlie of Akron, Ohio,
Stephanie Johnson and husband Jeff of Canton, Ohio; grandchildren,
Timothy Long, Christopher Long, Elizabeth Long and husband
Isaac Furr, Nathaniel Arnold, Abigail Noah, twenty-seven
other grandchildren, two great grandchildren as well as "The
Boys" Joey and Marley Fitzgerald, his canine companions.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu
of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude
that monetary
