Family-Placed Death Notice

JOHNER, Timothy Timothy Johner 65, of Suwanee, GA passed away after a gallant eight year battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma on September 17, 2013, with his loving wife by his side. Born June 11, 1948 in Rugby, ND, he graduated from Wolford High School in Wolford, ND in 1966. Tim enlisted in the US Navy in 1966, serving as a Corpsman at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA until 1970. After discharge, he returned to N. Dakota where he received a BS in Mathematics from the University of North Dakota. Tim wanted to be a teacher, but was offered a position at Mattson Construction as an Estimator upon his graduation. He subsequently spent 35 years in commercial and residential construction in N. Dakota, Iowa and Georgia. His position as a builder for John Weiland Homes in Suwanee is how he met his wife Debbie. After they married in 2000, Debbie encouraged him to get licensed in real estate so they could work together as a husband/wife team. His mechanical mind combined with his construction experience, estimating skills, and ability to fix and build anything and everything was an integral part of their popularity selling real estate. At his time of death, Tim was a Realtor at RE/MAX Center in Duluth, GA. He and Debbie were previously associated with RE/MAX Greater Atlanta in Johns Creek, GA and RE/MAX Professionals in Suwanee, GA. Tim was an avid outdoorsman, consummate hunter and fisherman. Prior to relocating to Iowa and Georgia, he served as President of The Happy Hookers fishing club in Minot, North Dakota. He was one of the most skilled and lucky fishermen anyone ever met. He was instrumental in organizing the Y's Men's Fishing Camp for Kids and the annual Christmas Tree lot for the YMCA of Minot, ND. Tim was happiest spending time outdoors maintaining his home, planting flowers, gardening and serving his community. He loved all animals, frogs and mostly his toy poodle Peppi. Tim served his community extensively as a volunteer on the Board of Directors for the Rivermoore Park Homeowner's Association during the last two years. He was instrumental in maintaining their lake and meadow, making sure they were esthetically pleasing and re-stocking the lake with fish. During his battle with cancer and even while suffering the side-effects of the stem cell transplant he underwent this past January, Tim remained a very selfless person. He always put serving others ahead of his own personal and household needs. He especially loved decorating his house for Christmas. His neighbors were always anxious to see what was added to his holiday display after the sun set each day. Tim is survived by his loving Wife of 13 years, Debbie Dewey of Suwanee, GA; his adored toy poodle, Peppi; two Daughters Melissa Broyles of Seattle, WA and Christine Walker of Indianapolis, IN; Son, Michael Johner of Eastern Washington State; his Mother, Betty Johner of Tipton, IN; Sister Cheryl Massey of Elwood, IN; Brother, Jerold Johner of Phoenixville, PA. Tim is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins, mostly in Indiana. He was preceded in death by his Father, John Johner of Powers Lake, ND. A memorial service in celebration of Tim's life is planned for October 12, 2013 at the clubhouse in Rivermoore Park in Suwanee, GA. For more information, please contact The Neptune Society at 404-351-3526. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Georgia Chapter .

I am so sorry for your loss. I did not know Tim well, only through interactions in classes held at our office RE/MAX Center. He was always so nice to everyone, including me a person he didn't even know. He will be missed by those who knew him and those who didn't have the opportunity.
