If I could have met my grandpa that would mean the world to me I was sadly not born yet when God took the angel from us love you Grandpa.

Dear Lookingbill Family,

The sadness crept all the way to Michigan. Simply put, he was a good man. I could have stopped at "simply put". It seems a good testimonial to the kind of person who, in such small doses, over much time & distance, still evokes memories of gentleness, kindness, humility & warmth. Avery remembers playing with Caroline & Connor when his grandpa died. Our hearts go out to all.

To all of Tim's family and friends, please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss.

I remember Tim from when I was a boy and my mother, Judith Zatarain (Gordon-Greer) used to take me to her office. Tim was always so nice to me and made me feel comfortable in this "strange" environment of the workplace. I also remember Tim from the crawfish boils that were mentioned above. I haven't seen Tim in years, but I remember what he looks like as if it were yesterday. Tim made a positive impression in my life. He will not be forgotten.

Bobbie,

I can't express how saddened we were to hear the news about Tim. Like everyone else on this page, I have many fond memories of him including several "races", going to restaurants with both of ya'll and meeting up in Destin several times. But most I'll remember our walks around the "reservation" where between us we fixed the world's problems. The fact that people from coast to coast have sent comments about Tim indicates that he truly touched people, and I hope that gives you some consolation at this difficult time. Our deepest sympathy and prayers go to you and your family.

We met Mr. Tim through his daughter, Melissa, whom we had met in 1994 while on our honeymoon. In 1997, we came to New Orleans for two months. Mr. Tim welcomed us into his home and treated us like family. I'll especially treasure that Easter when I was alone and I was able to celebrate that day with the Lookingbill family. Mr. Tim especially made me feel welcome--he just had that way of making you feel comfortable. We felt honored that Mr. Tim followed and was so enthusiastic about Mike's time with the Zephyr's as well as the rest of his career. Mr. Tim was one of the kindest, happiest, and most genuine men we've ever known. We were certainly blessed to have crossed paths with Mr. Tim, if even for a brief time in our lives. Our love to all of his family; we hold you close in our prayers.

Bobbie, Stephanie, Melissa and Joel,

Please accept my sincerest and deepest sympathies at the loss of your husband and father. I first met Tim on July 17, 1971 as I started work for the Corps with Tim as my Unit Supervisor. So many wonderful memories over the years of a truly gracious and caring gentle man.... So many terrific times from Presidential bumper stickers all over the old VW to our Crescent City Mardi Gras Truck Krewe to crawfish boils in your back yard and mine.... Tim will be missed by so very many people throughout his personal and Corps families. We have lost a truly great American.

Best Regards,

Judi

I worked with Tim while in the News Orleans District for more than 11 years (1974-1985). During my subequent visits to the District I would occassionally see Tim. I always had great respect for Tim because of him very warm southern demeaner and friendly smile. Tim's contributed to the success of the Corps and to the communities he served.

The Paynes family mourn with the Lookingbill Family in the passing of Tim.

May God keep and bless the family now and forever.

Tim Lookingbill was an authentic human being -- friend to anyone he met, dedicated public servant and loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. Seems like only yesterday that I met him in that old barracks building on the levee. I am shocked and saddened by his departure but know that he will be greeting family and doing cost-benefit analysis at a much higher level. My profound sympathy to his loved ones and many dear friends.
