Timothy McGuill Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 7, 2025.
Timothy (Tim) James McGuill passed away at age 65 at home in Monson, MA on February 4, 2025 after a heroic battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father, Jack, who also passed on Feb 4th (1978) and his mother, Lucille and stepdad Andy (Mulcahy). Tim was born on October 15, 1959, in Springfield, MA. As a boy growing up in Hampden with his eight siblings, he loved playing hockey. Spending hours outdoors daily he became a keen bird watcher. In his youth, Tim was an avid motorcyclist racing both motocross and flat track. He was a 1977 graduate of Minnechaug Regional High School where he played soccer and competed in gymnastics. After graduation he attended Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY as a graphic arts major. He enjoyed his craft and worked many years as a production manager and plant manager in a variety of printing operations. Tim's greatest passion was his love for and pride in his two daughters and he was often found on the soccer fields with them. Tim played in several adult Softball and Hockey leagues. He was a huge Bruins fan. Later in life, Tim found joy in cooking and loved jamming to music while grilling family favorites. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monson.

Tim leaves his loving wife of 36 years, Jane nee Patnode and his adoring daughters, Molly of Kentucky and Megan of Feeding Hills. He is survived and was greatly loved by his siblings, Gail McGuill (Jim Bragg) of Henderson, NV, John (Carol) of Westfield, Michael of Northampton, Jana Bacon (Fisk)of Rotunda West, FL. Matthew of Walpole, Corinne Bryant (Buster) of Everson, WA, Daniel (Dora) of East Longmeadow, Thomas (Leah) of Walpole and step brothers, Andrew Mulcahy (Cathy) of Foxboro and Colin Mulcahy of Plymouth. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A funeral Mass and celebration of life for family and friends will be scheduled when the leaves return to the trees.

Anyone wishing to honor Tim is welcomed to submit a donation to the American Cancer Society or the donor's organization of choice in Tim's name.

We were born just 8 days apart and grew up next door for over 18 years and then were roommates for 6 more years and friends till his passing. The McGuill family was my second home for many years. He started dating Jane when we lived together, and the rest is history. Tim and Jane raised a beautiful family. I will miss you brother Tim!! My condolences to the entire McGuill family for a huge loss. RIP

I'm so sad to hear of Timmy's passing. We lived on the same street in Hampden for many years. Fondest memory when Mat and Timmy came down to spend a day with us on the beach. That was many years ago but still have wonderful picture of that day. Kim Witkop stayed the week with us and the guys surprised us by showing up. Teen years were the fondest of memories. Rest in peace my friend. Sue Zilewicz Atwell.

One time I remember was the whole family gathered in the family home watching the NBA finals Lakers/Celtics. I was the only Lakers fan in the room but all was good. You will be missed my friend, by me and many. God bless Taco.

Condolences to the entire McGuill clan and extended family. I wasn´t close to Tim having met him our freshman year at Minnechaug before I moved away from the area before our sophomore year. But I had several classes with Tim and recall him as being a funny and pleasant kid; a bright light in those classes. I´m sure he´ll be sorely missed. Godspeed Tim.
