Timothy McMahon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 8, 2023.
Timothy Elliott McMahon, 51, passed away on September 5, 2023, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, where he resided for the last 30 years. He was born on December 3, 1971, in Orange County, California, and spent his childhood in various parts of the world as the son of a Marine.

Tim is survived by his wife, Wendy; children: Samantha Sawyer (Will), Kevin McMahon (Ashley), Blake Davis (Kaelyn), Chandler Davis (Rainey), and Hayden Davis; mother, Judith Davis; sister, Molly McMahon; and grandchildren, Kennedy, Lila, Cheyenne, Hunter, Christian, Wiley, and Connor; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and his father, Stephen Edward McMahon.

In his professional life, Tim found fulfillment as a taxidermist for 30 years. His skill and craftsmanship were unparalleled and his work will help carry his legacy.

Outside of work, Tim enjoyed the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his passions. His greatest joy came from spending quality time with his grandchildren, creating lasting memories and sharing his love for the outdoors with them.

Tim's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and chatting with him. His warm smile, kind heart, and passion for taxidermy will be remembered by all.

A private gathering will be held to honor and celebrate Tim's life in the fall.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to a mental health organization and/or the GoFundMe created to assist with unexpected upcoming expenses, https://gofund.me/18e833ea.

I knew Tim through our mutual love for taxidermy, and we spent many long hours discussing it in detail. I somehow convinced him that I was wise or cerebral, lol, but I found Tim to be a thinker, a ponderer. Many phone conversations were dedicated to understanding the latest politics or world events. Then it was back to our beloved taxidermy. Tim and I made planning a trip up to bear hunt a yearly tradition, and sadly we never got around to making that happen. Tim, you left too soon bud.

I’m gonna miss our talks. Tim helped me through a hard time in my life. He was always there to be an ear to listen. He was a straight shooter whether you liked the answer or not. I thank him and Wendy for inviting me in their home. Wendy I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to meet you and had the friendship that I had with Tim. He will be highly missed. Wendy I am sorry for your loss and pray for understanding and peace of mind for the days to come.

I might not have known Tim but I do know Wendy and Wendi is the sweetest most kind person I´ve ever known and I´m sure Tim was the same way. I am so sorry for you Wendy and your family. I hope the days get better faster.

I feel very fortunate that I got to know Tim. I will have so many memories of the 3 or 4 times each year for the past several years that I came over and worked with him in his shop. Tim, Wendy and the rest of the family made me feel I was family. Gods Speed my friend ... I am going to miss so much about you. To Wendy and the family my deepest condolences and prayers. May God hold you all in the palm of his hand and comfort you through this. Love you all.

Tim was always inspiration to me. He always told me what was real and what was best. He always told me that "life is simple, just go do it". I met Tim when I was 8 years old, bass fishing tournament agents him. When i was bit older he mounted my first ducks for me and went on to mount many other things. However the time I spent with mr tim around the shop or on the phone got 3 hours at times. Is something I won´t ever forget. Rest easy my friend!
