Timothy Mears Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 17, 2025.
Timothy Ross "Tim" Mears, 76, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, in Jamison, Pennsylvania.

Born on May 29, 1949, in Nassawadox, Virginia, Tim was the cherished son of the late Paul and Dorothy Mears of Parksley, Virginia. He grew up on the Eastern Shore and graduated from Parksley High School before continuing his education at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. His professional life was dedicated to the automobile industry, where he was admired for his knowledge, integrity, and commitment.

Tim had a lifelong passion for sports and was an enthusiastic supporter of Philadelphia's teams-the Phillies, Eagles, 76ers, and Flyers. He also loved playing golf and cherished time spent on the course. Beyond being a fan and player, Tim made a lasting impact as a coach, mentoring young athletes and serving as a role model to many. A devoted reader, he especially enjoyed historical novels, which reflected his thoughtful and reflective nature.

Above all, Tim treasured his family. He shared a devoted 54-year marriage with his beloved wife, Deborah, and together they built a life rooted in love and community. He was a proud father to three sons-Matthew of Jamison, Pennsylvania; Benjamin of West Chester, Pennsylvania; and Alexander of Red Hill, Pennsylvania-and a loving grandfather to Miles, Liam, and Timothy. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Kirsten Mears, as well as many nieces and nephews who held him in high regard.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Connor Mears of Parksley, Virginia; his sister, Candice Farlow of Quinby, Virginia; and his sister-in-law, Brenda Thompson of Staunton, Virginia.

Those who knew Tim remember him as a kind and loving man whose warmth and generosity touched countless lives. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 24, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at The Bucks Club, 2600 York Road, Jamison, PA 18929.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the American Kidney Fund.

It was truly an honor to have Tim as my brother-in-law. Some of my earliest memories go back to our college days when Debbie and I were in the same dormitory at VCU in Richmond, Virginia.Tim traveled from Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, and met Debbie on a blind date. Once the two of them began dating, my role quickly became sneaking Debbie back into the dorm after curfew.

I will always be grateful for the time I was able to work alongside Tim when he became manager at Best Product in Richmond while I was a part-time college student. With his guidance, I began to understand the value of good communication and how important it is to present yourself positively to others. His influence has stayed with me and I remember him with gratitude.

Tim faced a serious illness for the past 10 years, and it was both an honor and a privilege for me to make multiple trips each year to visit him in Pennsylvania and be part of his care and support team. No matter if it was a good day or a hard day Tim always greeted me with a hug, a warm smile, and words of thanks for coming.

We always joked when I arrived that I was the "bad penny,"always returning and impossible to get rid of. That joke became one of our traditions and it always brought us laughter, even in difficult times.

I love you, Tim and you will meet this "bad penny" again one day.
Rest in peace, my brother-in-law and my friend.
