Timothy O'Rourke Obituary
Timothy J. O'Rourke, 77, passed away July, 29, 2016 after a battle with neck cancer.
Tim attended St. Sebastian Grade school, Borromeo High School, and graduated from John Carroll University. After 6 months in the Army Reserves, he began his career in the banking industry having worked for Akron Savings, Ohio Saving and Cardinal Federal. When he left banking, he became Business Manager for 15 years at St. Vincent Parish. Tim was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus-St. Vincent Council and charter member of the First Friday Club of Akron.
Tim enjoyed all sports especially golf and Notre Dame and Ohio State football. However, his first priority was his wife and family. He enjoyed all the activities with the children while they were growing up. His grandchildren were a true blessing and total joy especially during family functions, family vacations at Hilton Head and the unforgettable singing of the "Donut Song".
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane and Robert O'Rourke. He is survived by his wife, Dottie of 50 years of happy marriage. He leaves his four children, Beth (Karl) Johnson, Colleen (Mike) Whitty, Megan (Scott) Sumser and son Michael; seven grandchildren, Brian, Kelly, Erin Johnson; Kaitlin, Kara, Tommy Whitty, Emily Sumser; brother, Terry and sister-in-law Tammy; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Stallard, Peggy Brunamonti, and Kendra McCloud.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Guardian Angels Church, 1686 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Copley. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, COPLEY. A private family interment will take place at a later time.

So sorry to hear about Tim. I recall him as being kind and warm whenever I spoke with him. I know you will miss him dearly but remember that you still have a great family. Dottie and family, My deepest condolences are with you at this time. I am so sad to learn of Tim's illness and passing. I will always remember fondly my time spent with the O'Rourke family, and Tim's humor and bigger than life personality brings great memories. So happy we got a chance to meet up a few years ago. Tim was always the kindest soul and May he now rest in peace.

Dottie, Karen and I are very sorry for your loss,Tim was one of the nicest person we knew, He will be in our memories as a great and loving person, When Karen was working at St Vincent she enjoyed going to work every day,Even I worked there for three months while Karen had a hip replaced and I also did more talking to tim then work,Our hearts go out to you and yours..

Dottie, Beth, and all your family - Dan and I are out of town at the moment so cannot be there in person to pay our respects, but want you all to know how much we thought of Tim, what a great guy.
