Tina Wasserman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 11 to May 12, 2023.
Tina Wasserman, aged 57, died in a tragic fall in San Francisco on April 5, 2023. Tina was born on January 2, 1966 at Queen of Angels hospital in Los Angeles, CA, to Debra and Evan Wasserman. In 1968, the family relocated to San Mateo California where Tina attended school at Knolls Elementary school.

Wasserman family vacations were spent in Long Beach with beloved cousins, Tyrone, Donnell, Kevin Coleman and Juanyeen Godoy. Aunt Shalanda Bayton played the guitar for her nieces and nephews, for the cousins to perform shows to songs by the Jackson 5 and the Beatles, which filled all with joy. Trips to Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Zoos, Fairyland in Oakland, the Japanese Tea Gardens in Golden Gate Park, Camping, Coyote Point, and of course, the beach were highlights of Tina's childhood.

Tina attended Forestville Elementary and graduated from San Mateo High School in 1984. In high school, Tina wowed the crowds as a song girl. Tina was an excellent dancer, roller skater and ice skater. Music was an integral part of Tina's life and as a teen she saw Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Sir David Bowie, the Jackson 5, James Brown and many other bands.

After high school graduation, Tina attended technical school and worked as an administrative assistant in San Francisco. Tina also worked for the county of Alameda for 5 years. Tina's greatest joy was the birth of her son, Naaman Wasserman (aka Marvin Fuller, Jr.), on January 7th, 1988. "Wubba" was loved and cherished by Tina.

In the early 1990's Tina relocated to Southern California and worked for the city of Long Beach. In 2021, Tina moved back to San Francisco, a city that she loved. During her last few years, she watched the NBA SF Warriors victory parade, shared a hamburger with Jake Gyllenhaal and spent time with her family.

Tina is preceded in death by her father, Evan Wasserman. Tina is survived by her son, Naaman Wasserman; Mother, Debra Wasserman; Stepmother Jackie Wasserman; sisters and brother: Evy Engrav-Lano (Greg Lano), Lori Peacock, Lisa Wasserman (Steven Bystedt), Christopher Shala; nephews, Miles Engrav, Kyle and Dylan Peacock; many Cousins and Aunts and Uncles.

Tina brought joy and humor to every occasion. Tina had the best laugh and would often share her wonderful sense of humor. She is forever loved and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

I am so heartbroken to just learn of this. Tina and I went to see Prince together when we were both sophmores at San Mateo High. We also used to babysit the same kids together. I always enjoyed spending time with her because we connected on so many levels. I always hated that we lost touch. I am so sorry that now I will never have that chance. Rest in love my old friend!
