Thank you Dr. Kimm for taking care of my precious pets over the years. You were a pleasure to know and will be missed. You were always happy and funny and really made some tough situations bearable for us. God Bless you and keep you in his care.

Toby was a good friend and a wonderful veterinarian! The world is a sadder place with his passing. With his almost non-existent sense of punctuality, I used to joke he’d be late for his own funeral. Sadly, that came way too early!! He will be greatly missed!

Perry & Burgundy

I am sorry for your loss. Please except my sincere condolences with dads passing. Both of you are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Keep your fond memories close to your hearts as they will get you through the difficult days ahead.

I write this memory with a heavy heart. I have put off writing this because I could not find the words to put to paper which describe the mark Toby left on me and this place we call earth. All the great work he has done for people and there faithful companions goes without saying there’s no way to put a gauge on his compassion and care he administered to so many, for so many years..

Dad was a wonderful person, a gentle giant and a man whom I'm so proud of to have called my friend. Although you don't know me, I know you, both of you even though we have never met. Both of you were the light of Dads life. He spoke of you often over the years and we would compare growing pain notes, parenting curves and prayed for patience. No matter the distance between even when away or at school he mentioned your names often or the road trips he was going on to see you. He lit up like a beacon when he spoke of his children and how proud he was of both of you.

I have known Dad since Darling Street, then Ragged Mt. on West Main Street and then New Britain Avenue in Plainville. Pretty much over 40 years, of Moms cats, my beagles and at the end my German Shepard “Niko”

Five years ago, Dad had to put “Niko” to sleep at the age of 13. Many times Dad compared Niko to his “Dakota" sometimes he would call Niko - Dakota at his visits. Dad would refer to Niko and Dakota as the last of the tuff guys.

The day we put Niko down was the worst day of my life but as usual “Toby" was there for me like he always was for everybody. I was a complete mess, pretty much out of my mind. Dad explained to me what was going to happen and Niko would just fall asleep as he gave me a blanket to wrap him in. He gave Niko one injection of the bubblegum medicine and nothing. Niko just started at us both. Dad gave him a second shot still nothing He still was just looking at us. Dad said I just gave this guy enough medicine to put down an elephant, right to the end he’s the last of the tuff guys. I'll never forget this, I was very emotional and trying to see through the tears and thought dad was getting another vial of medicine. When I was able to focus, I felt a hand on my shoulder, and when I turned Dad was in full blown tears. He said “I’ve got to get out of here take your time and stay with Niko, say your good byes”. Shortly thereafter, Niko slipped into eternal rest he was at peace no more suffering. I share this story with you because this was Doctor Kim fully invested professionally and personally to the max with his clients and their faithful companions.

The next day Dad sent a crystal vase with a single red rose from him and the staff. Five years have gone by and I have not even thought about getting another dog. That’s not to say over the years that dad didn’t call me multiple times saying “Hey I don’t know if you’re ready but I have a line on this German Shepard puppy it’s a really great dog”. As busy as dad was he would always go above and beyond taking time to think of others.

Toby thank you so much for everything over the years you have done for me, my family and friends and all of our pet’s felines and K9’s. You are a true professional in every sense of the word. Most importantly, I thank you for your true friendship over the years. I feel so bad that I haven’t reached out in some time and even worse now, as I had no idea you were ill. I thought of you often but didn’t follow through with reaching out.

I won’t say goodbye my friend but I’ll see you on the other side. I’m sure you are already up and running in heaven providing your extraordinary care from the heart. Hey Toby, when you see “Niko” tell him I said cut you a break because I’m not there to put his muzzle on..you know the love hate relationship you two had.

May God Bless you and your Family and hold you in the palm of his hand.
With much Respect and Admiration
Miss you like hell already, love yah bud.

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Toby's passing. Toby was a blessing to this earth with both humans and animals alike. We will miss his contagious laugh and thunderous voice. Toby's empathy and compassion was the same for people as it was for the many animals that were in his care. He was the only person that could handle and had earned respect from our Yoda. To Toby's family and extended family and staff at Ragged Mountain Animal Hospital, both past and present, please accept our sincerest condolences, and prayers of healing. To Perry and Burgundy, your dad is, and forever will be greatly missed. Thank you for sharing him with us.

Dr. Kimm was the most wonderful vet I have ever brought my fur babies too. The compassion he had for animals was like no other. I always knew I could trust him with my Prada and that she would receive the absolute best care when in his hands . He wasn't in this practice for the money but rather to make sure people could afford good care for their animals. I will truly miss him . My prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Dr. Kimm was our family veterinarian for decades. We are so saddened to hear of his passing. He was a compassionate doctor who took personal care in our dogs' lives. He treated our beloved pets as his own and was with us in times of "dog joy" and "dog sorrow". We will truly miss Toby. We are deeply sorry for your loss. Carol and Kurt Von Achen
