Morehead City, NC

Nash County, NC born Tom Pettus Harris III affectionately known as "T" left us far too soon on September 25, 2025, in Greenville , NC at 43 years young.

Born on May 17, 1982, T was determined to carve out a life that revolved around the ocean. He learned to drive a boat at the young age of 7 and ultimately dedicated 19 years of his life to the marine industry he loved so dearly.

After graduating from ECU with a degree in Economics, T began his career in marine sales at Morehead Marine. After leaving Morehead Marine, he started his own business, Harris Marine, chartering boats, fishing, and servicing boats for his customers.

T loved the ocean, but his heart truly belonged to his family. On July 24, 2010, he married his soulmate, Rebecca Harbin Harris. Together, they raised two amazing daughters, Hunter (11) and Blake (8), who reside at the family home.

T is preceded in death by his cherished paternal grandparents, Tom and Alma Harris; maternal grandparents, Starling and Margaret Bissette; and his mother-in-law, Bridget Harbin.

He also leaves behind his loving parents, Tom and Jonnie Harris of Wilmington, and father-in-law Kim Harbin of Greenville, along with countless friends who felt more like family.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Harris Marine 3300 Arendell St in Morehead City.

T will be forever remembered for his love of life, his unwavering dedication to his family, and his ability to bring laughter when people needed it most. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Please in lieu of flowers make donations to the T Harris Captain's Scholarship at Carteret Community College CCC Foundation.
