Tom Urich

Thomas "Tom" Urich, veteran of stage, screen, and the United States Air Force, passed away on July 17, 2022. Born in West Virginia, raised in Ohio, and a true citizen of the world, Tom lived a life of love, generosity, and service.

After a year at The Ohio State, Tom enlisted and served during the Korean conflict where he discovered a love of acting as he toured military bases performing for his fellow servicemen. He fully embraced the safety of stage drama after a refueler jet crash ended his time in the service. At the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Tom honed his performance skills and won the role of co-star for life to his beloved wife Judith McCauley.

A career on and off-Broadway, as well as, in numerous commercials and television shows - occasionally opposite his little brother Robert Urich - brought adventure and a good life to his family. Some of his favorite roles were Georges in La Cage Aux Folles on Broadway, Harold Hill in The Music Man, and proud father to his sons Christian and Justin.

As an active volunteer, Tom gave his time and talents to the American Legion, where he served as Commander of Hollywood Post 43, and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, where he served as a Lector. In recent years, Tom and Judy took to the stage again with the Valley Villagers Choir and entertained local audiences.

When he wasn't relaxing by cheering on The Buckeyes or The Mets, devouring crime novels, or poring over the crossword puzzles in The New York Times or Los Angeles Times, he was serving as devoted Dzedo to his five dear grandsons.

His extraordinary life will be celebrated with military honors at 1pm on Friday, August 12th, 2022 at The Los Angeles National Cemetery columbarium, 950 S. Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90049, followed by a memorial mass at 2:15pm at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 10800 Moorpark St, North Hollywood, CA 91602.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
