Tommie Lintz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 3, 2018.
Tommie Jean Smith Lintz was born to the late William Jeremiah and Annie B. Smith on October 21, 1941 in Dallas, Texas as the third of five children. She accepted Christ at a young age as a member of Elizabeth Chapel CME Church. Tommie Jean traveled through most of her life as the faithful wife and friend of Alfred Roy Lintz to whom she was married since August 3, 1963. They shared attendance at Lincoln High School which was also where she became a Purple Flash Twirler and swimmer. Her loving union with Alfred Roy Lintz gave birth to two children, Khrhysna Juanita and Alfred Roy Jr.

Jean prepared for a work/life balance prior to beginning a career and family by attending Texas Southern University, in Houston, Texas. She earned a bachelor's degree while participating in college life as a majorette and a lifetime devotee to her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha. After a short time as a respiratory therapist, Jean taught Health & Physical Education in Wilmer Hutchins Independent School District. In addition to school instructional duties, she also coached all manner of sports, directed special events, and produced beauty pageants until retirement in 1984.

Jean loved the outdoors where she camped, boated, water skied and fished as a member of the Texas Longhorn Campers, the only African American Chapter of the National Campers and Hikers Association. She also played Tennis with the 40-Love Tennis Club and was an avid gardener.

Jean pursued a lifelong desire to study art following retirement. She quickly became entrenched in the artistic community by participating in art shows, both locally and nationally. She was commissioned by corporate clientele like Du Pont and Vinson &

Elkins for exhibits. Although her work displayed in galleries across the country, her favorite pursuits were the portraits created for family and friends using Prismacolor pencils.

On Tuesday, May 1, 2018 Jean accepted her call home to Glory. She was welcomed by her parents, Annie B. and William Jeremiah; siblings, John Edward Smith, William Nathaniel Smith, Jerry Ann White and brother-in-law James White. Jean leaves to celebrate her life and legacy, her loving husband of fifty-four years, Alfred Roy Lintz; children, Khrhysna Juanita McKinney (Franki) and Alfred R. Lintz, Jr. (Chrysta); grandchildren, Desiree McKinney, Alfred R. Lintz III, Hope McKinney, Joshua Lintz, and Eden Lintz; her brother, Alfonso Smith (Caritha) and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, former students, and friends.
