Tommy Guinan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 27, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of a beloved Husband, Dad, Grandad, Great Grandad, Brother and Mentor. Tommy left us on March 12, 2024 with his loving family at his side, 2 days before his 60th wedding anniversary.

Tommy was a "scouser" at heart, born in Liverpool, England where he met his lovely wife, Anne "when she was just 17." Tommy and Anne were soulmates, and their love for one another was evident to everyone they met. Together they built a life of love and happiness, full of cherished memories and joy.

Tommy was an avid Liverpool football club fan, and would often be found cheering on his favorite team with his friends at the pub. His love for LFC spanned many decades, and he would often be seen wearing Liverpool attire. The Liverpool anthem song, "you'll never walk alone," was often heard in his home.

It was in 1977 that Tommy moved his family to Canada to work at Atlas Steel. A few years later, Tommy started his work at GM, where he worked for 30 years. Many friends from GM will remember Tommy as a happy-go-lucky man, who always had a positive outlook on life. At the end of every workday, he would say, with a skip in his step, "time to go home, this is Tommy waving goodbye."

Tommy was also a handy- man, and could always be found renovating, painting and building.

Tommy was a family man. He loved his kids, Tommy, Kerry and Lindsay and was unwavering in his support for their endeavors and was forever their cheerleader. When his family would ask how he was doing he always said, "all the better for seeing you." Tommy was also a Grandad, and was very proud of his grandchildren, being both their friend and mentor. Tommy never missed being there for his family, cheering them on at soccer games, school events and visiting his granddaughter, Chloe in Edinburgh, Scotland when she attended school there, with his wife Anne at his side. In January 2024, Tommy became a Great Grandad to Sophie and was so proud to have met her, calling her "his lovely girl!"

Admired brother of twins Pat (Joey), Anne (Brian) and he will join his brother Teddy, fondly known as "our kid," in heaven.

Tommy was the cherished Dad of Tommy, Kerry (Brad) Salter, Lindsay (Wayne) Alward. Adored Grandad of Thomas, Taylor, Chloe (Pat) Wojcik, Max Salter and Harrison Salter. Delighted Great Grandad to Sophie Wojcik. He will be remembered as a kind, friendly man who always found the best in everyone.

This is Tommy, waving Goodbye for one last time!
