I'm still shocked and I'm struggling with Tony's passing. My memories include the times in West LA when he, another Wanderers cast member, and myself shared a large apartment at Woodcliff on Overland to help split the cost of rent. We had one heck of a time. I remember helping Tony learn how to ride his first Harley, how to play basketball (for one of the Porky's sequels), and how to appreciate and work on old Mopars. I couldn't have had a better time hanging out with our friends and family in LA in the early 80s. Over the years, life took us all in different directions, but I always wanted to touch bases and reconnect just to see how things had gone. Unfortunately, time went by too quickly and then ran out. I will forever be sad for not getting a chance to talk with him at least one more time. RIP my friend.

My family and I would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Tony Ganios. He was well known in the movie industry, as well as his character in "Porky's". There is no doubt that he will be missed by all who knew him personally and professionally.

Please remember, God is close to the broken hearted and there is never a tear drop that he doesn't see nor is there a moment when he doesn't care or hear our prayers. Better days are ahead for the Ganios family, as you travel through this journey of life.

Respectfully,

Jack Mulcahy

It is with deep sorrow that I learned the news of Tony Ganios´ passing.

My first day on the set of PORKY´S Tony was, (unlike his onscreen tough-guy persona), warm and welcoming. When director Bob Clark told me that Fox noticed me in the dailies and wanted me written into the entire script (therefore making me a SAG member on the spot) no one was happier for me than Tony.

He was definitely opinionated and rough around the edges, but I often saw a soft side to him; like the time we went food shopping at a local Publix. Outside the supermarket, some hardscrabble kids asked if they could help him with the grocery bags. He let `em, and when we got to the car, he tipped each one of them $20 ~ that´s $20 in 1980 money.

When we got in the car, I looked at him and said "That was very sweet of you, Tony, you ain´t so tough after all."

Without missing a beat, he said, "Yeah, little buddy. And if you tell anyone, I´ll kill you."

Rest In Peace, big man. We hardly knew ye

YMCA. Memorial Highway New Rochelle. He was a great guy. Lifted weights all day. Then drank about 4 or 5 gals of milk. Was a great artist and drew T-shirts for me with a Sharpe. Good guy who will be missed. Godspeed my old friend.

I first met Tony at the New Rochelle "Y" in 1976. He was the one practicing all the powerlifting lifts. He was very strong and drank whole milk from the carton to feed his muscles. The story circulating around the gym was that he sat in the back of his Iona College classes drinking milk and the professors thought he was consuming alcohol since the milk carton was in a paper bag. Evidently the professors were afraid to admonish big Tony due to his massive frame.
He helped me with my posing prior to my first bodybuilding competition in 1979. Haven't seen him since that year but followed his career.

A very good actor and entertainer who made a name for himself as a character in his films and very likable to his audience. We will truly remember him. Here are some comforting words for his grieving family: " Most truly I say to you, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who have paid attention will live. " Respectfully submitted with deep condolences.
