Tony Lindgren, 38, of Shueyville, died Tuesday, Feb 20, 2007 at UIHC of complications from a heart attack.
A Celebration of Tony's life will be at held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Iowa City, Friday, Feb 23, 2007 at 1:00 pm. The Reverend Kyle Otterbein will officiate. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, and Friday from 9 to 11 am at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, an educational memorial fund has been established for the Lindgren Children c/o US Bank, attn:Joel Kasparek, 222 2nd Avenue, SE, Cedar Rapids, IA. 52401.
Tony was born on May 15, 1968 in Fort Dodge, the son of Dennis and Pam Heflin Lindgren. Tony was a 1987 graduate of West High School, Iowa City, and had attended the University of Utah. Tony married Carrie Dykstra on November 30, 1996.
Tony was employed by Knutson Construction.
Tony was a gentle giant. He loved his family, his friends and the Detroit Lions. Tony was a wonderful father and husband and loved having family and friends in his home. Ed and Linda Dykstra, Tony's father and mother-in-law, finally had a son in their family. Tony was a kind and loyal friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
Tony is survived by his wife, Carrie Dykstra, and their two children, Grace and Izaak of Shueyville; Tony's daughter, Channing Fisher of Cedar Rapids; his parents, Pam Lindgren and Dennis Lindgren; his uncle Steve (Darlene) Heflin of Coralville and aunt, Jane (Raymond) Wilson of Farnhamville, IA.; both of his in-laws, Ed and Linda Dykstra, of Iowa City; his sister-in-laws, Camille Dykstra and her daughter, Anna of Iowa City and Kate Dykstra and her fiancé, Christopher Vos of Iowa City; and many cousins.
