In Loving Memory of Tony H. Tarabay

June 1949 - February 2025

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Tanios Hanna Tarabay, lovingly known as Tony-a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and deep love for those he cherished most.

Tony was born in June 1949 in Chiah, Beirut, Lebanon to Hanna and Marie Tarabay. The eldest of four, he was a caring brother to Reine, Violette, and Elias. Educated in Lebanon's esteemed Jesuit school system, he was fluent in Arabic, French, and English.

A hardworking and gifted accountant, Tony built a strong foundation in his profession, gaining experience across several companies, including one of the Big Eight accounting firms in Lebanon. He also shared his expertise as a college instructor in Beirut. His life was marked by resilience and perseverance, having endured the Lebanese Civil War before making the courageous decision to leave his home and family to immigrate to the United States in 1979.

Upon arriving in the U.S., Tony settled in the Bay Area, California, and continued advancing his career at Higham & Richards, marking the beginning of a successful and fulfilling professional journey in a new country. In 1983, he was introduced to the love of his life, Kimberly, through dear friends. They married in September 1984 and began building their lives.

Tony earned his CPA license in 1986, the same year he and Kim welcomed their first daughter, Natalie. Their family grew with the birth of their second daughter, Jessica, in 1987. His mother and brother later joined him in the U.S., where his mother adored helping raise her granddaughters, forming a bond that would last a lifetime.

Over the years, Tony established and expanded his own CPA practice. He took great pride in forming lasting relationships with clients and enjoyed developing expertise in tax to meet their evolving needs. In 2000, Kim joined the CPA practice to partner with Tony and together they grew the firm into a business he deeply valued.

Tony always remained connected to his Lebanese roots. In 2004, he was finally able to introduce his wife and daughters to his homeland when they traveled to Lebanon to celebrate the marriage of his brother Elias to Liliane. This marked the beginning of many years of international traveling adventures with his family, which were among some of his greatest life memories.

Later in life, he found immense happiness living with his daughters in San Francisco and spending time at his home with Kim in Carmel, which held a special place in his heart. His greatest moments were those surrounded by family, sharing good food and laughing together. In 2021, Jessica married Zach, and in 2022, Natalie married Thanasis; Tony welcomed them both into his family with open arms. One of Tony's greatest joys came with the arrival of his grandsons, Theodor Tanios (born October 2022) and Spiros Anthony (born December 2024). The love and happiness his family brought him were evident in every moment he spent with them.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Kim; his daughters, Natalie and Jessica; his sons-in-law, Thanasis and Zach; his cherished grandsons, Theo and Spiros; his sister, Violette, and her family; and his brother, Elias, and his family. He is reunited with his parents, sister Reine, and nephew Toni, whom he loved dearly.

Though he has departed this world, his warm heart, innate joy and laughter will remain with us forever.

A memorial service will be held at St. Dunstan on Saturday February 22nd at 10:30am.
