YAU, DR. TONY PAK CHOONG August 27, 1939 - April 23, 2022 It is with sadness, that we announce the sudden passing of Dr. Tony Pak Choong Yau on April 23, 2022, at the age of 82. A graduate of the University of Manchester Medical School (U.K.) of the class of 1964, he immigrated to Canada and established his practice shortly thereafter in the St. Clair Avenue West and Dufferin neighbourhood. Dr. Yau will be greatly missed by his wife Irene; his children Daphne, Andrew and Fiona; his siblings Poh Yoke (the late Joe Amin), Poh Keng, Poh Lin (Tom Grimes), Pak Seng (Evelyn Foo) and Pak Cheng (Gladys Yau); as well as all his other brothers, sisters and extended family in Malaysia and Canada. An open visitation and service will be held in his honour from 1-3 p.m. on April 28, 2022 at York Funeral Centre (160 Beecroft Road, North York, Ontario, 416-221-3404). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Red Cross.

Saddened to hear this news... I regret not being able to meet him one last time time for a lunch. We shared our passion for watches and Dr yau would shared his stories from years which I enjoyed. The spark and excitement in his eyes while sharing this stories were of an 11 year old which brought joy to listeners... Few times at dinner, his pronouncians if Italian words also were a hit with waiters who didn't expect to hear Italian from him. He was a kind hearted gentleman, who loved his children. Certainly going to miss him. May God RIP and condolences to his family.

RIP Dr. Yau. I was shock to hear of his passing because he would still follow up with me after receiving reports when I visited the hospital earlier this year. I am 42 now and been going to Dr. Yau since birth. I will miss seeing him and his office with all the files on his desking wondering how he found things. His dedication to his profession let his patients know he loved what he did.Condolences to his family.

Dr Yau took care of my family for the past 50 years! From my grandparents, aunts, cousins, mom, dad and brother. It will be hard to find a doctor as precise and knowledgeable as him. He always gave me great advice and loved to talk about best travel destinations. Wish I could tell him he is irreplaceable and how great of a character he truly was. Rest peacefully.

Dr Yau was my family doctor since the time I was born. My family went to him also for any issue they had. I would go for a visit and I would be there for an hour or longer since we´d talk about our personal lives and he´s want to know everything that was going on. He didn´t rush you out, or look at his watch when I went to visit. He did enjoy wine and had many gifts sent to him from patients all the time on his desk. Will be remembered always.

My family and I are so saddened to hear about the passing of Dr. Yau. We were his patients for so many years and his medical knowledge was unsurpassed. I still remember specialists saying to me that they themselves were always amazed at how correct Dr. Yau's diagnosis were.

He worked such long hours at the St. Clair Clinic always taking emergencies and helped so many people along the way, people who are here today because of him.

My condolences to his wife, children and his family on such a great loss. May you rest in peace Dr. Yau. There will never be anyone like you ever again.

Dear Irene, Daphne, Andrew and Fiona: I am so sorry for your loss and am thinking of you during this difficult time. Uldis and I always cherished our memories of meeting Tony and your family decades ago when Daphne and Zinta first set out on their path of friendship in kindergarten. Kindest regards to you and to all those who loved and were loved by Tony.

There are no words to express how heartbroken I am of loss of Dr Yau.

I had the honour and privilege of working side-by-side as Dr. Yau´s clinic nurse.

Dr. Yau what is a mentor to me, he taught me the value of the human life . He showed me what patient care really meant by worked until his last days serving his patients while knowing his life slowly coming to an end.

There are many words to describe
Dr. Yau´s character, these are just a few, intelligent, classy, worldly, professional, clever, kind, thoughtful and humble.

We would sit and talk at the end of the day reviewing all the patients that were seen always making sure nothing was missed and the last few months of his life we talk about our lives our regrets our accomplishments and I could see how tired he was but still wanting to fight the fight of cancer. One evening while having our usual talks he said to me Rose in that low soft voice, I´ve saved many lives and sadly nobody can save mine and I will miss my family very much. I will never forget those words for as long as I live. I will miss our lunches eating Popeyes chicken, his favourite.

He is now in heaven once again reunited with all those lives he touched.

Till will meet again Dr. Yau
My heartfelt condolences to his family

I am a good friend of Tony's son, Andrew. I received a call from Andrew a few days ago with the sad news and my heart broke. I'm so sorry for the family's loss but Andrew, I know first hand that your mother and father raised a compassionate and selfless son. And his legacy will be carried on in good hands. You and your family have my deepest condolences.

My condolences to Dr. Yau's family and staff on his passing. He has been my valued Dr. for almost 30 years and I have always found him to be very good for looking out for my best health. He will be extremely difficult to impossible to replace as he was more of an old school level of care and not a timed visit that I greatly appreciated. His knowledge of the history in parts of the world my family came from was impeccable. He recommended some fabulous wines, which I did try, as he was spot on with his evaluations every time.
