Tori Amundson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 16, 2025.
Mr. Tori V. "Tugrik" Amundson, 55, passed away on July 31, 2025, in Portland, Oregon. A vibrant and multifaceted individual, Tori lived life with passion, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for community and connection.

Born with an inquisitive mind and a generous spirit, Tori pursued his education at Ferris State University. His professional journey led him to become a Senior Network Architect at Cloudera, where he applied his technical expertise with precision and creativity. His work reflected not only his intelligence but also his dedication to innovation and excellence in the field of technology.

Tori was the beloved son of Rohel and Robin Amundson, a cherished brother to Heather and Heidi, and a devoted uncle to Isabelle. His family remembers him as someone who brought warmth, humor, and enthusiasm into their lives.

Known affectionately by many as "Tugrik or Tor" Tori embraced life with enthusiasm across countless interests. He was an avid motorcycle rider who found freedom on the open road and a passionate gamer who relished immersive worlds. As a proud Burner, he celebrated creativity and radical self-expression. His love for building extended to remote-controlled cars, planes, and drones-each crafted with care and ingenuity.

A licensed ham radio operator and an enthusiastic member of the Furry fandom, Tori found joy in connecting with others through shared passions. He was also a dedicated collector of anime and all things Japanese culture-a reflection of his deep appreciation for art and storytelling.

Tori's culinary talents were legendary among those who knew him; he was a gourmet cook, foodie, and BBQ fanatic who delighted in preparing meals that brought people together.

His adventurous spirit led him on countless travels and road trips, always seeking new experiences with an open heart.

He was an avid reader whose love of knowledge fueled his blogging endeavors.

With camera in hand or behind the lens of a drone, he captured the world through photography and videography-preserving moments both grand and intimate.

A proud LGBTQ+ ally, cat parent, people person, and music lover, Tori's presence enriched every space he entered. His humor, and intensity resonated deeply within his communities-both online and off-and his legacy is one of authenticity and generosity.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire all who were touched by his remarkable life.

He was a light in the dark. We had fun at Burning Man the 3 times I went. He was fun in a large package. I will miss him.

Tori and I got into so many things. Our trip to Japan was epic and full of those travel stories that will stick with you forever. We didn´t get to ride motorcycles together nearly enough. What we did get were more travel stories of long days and epic breakdowns with ingenuity and passion. I wouldn´t be 1/2 the man I am today without him in my life. I´ll miss him greatly!

I have a clear memory about when Tori declared his space in the world: the first complete sentence I heard him say (I do it myself , Dad) while he was teetering on the top step of the slide that was attached to the new swingset in our backyard at Elkhart Indiana.
