It is with great sadness that the family of Tracy Lee Hall Sr. announce his passing. Tracy passed away on January 1, 2023 at the age of 57, surrounded by his family and in the arms of his loving wife Cindy. Tracy was preceded in death by his grandparents, sister Kellye Ann Trujillo, nephew Isaac V. Martinez and great niece Aubree M. Marquez. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Cindy, two children Tracy L. Hall Jr. (TJ) of Raton, NM and Troy (Katie) Hall of Clovis, NM. 5 grandchildren that were the light of his life Tracy RD and Kairi Hall of Raton, Asher, Haven and Harper Hall of Clovis, NM. Mother Caroline Hall of Raton, Father Jack (Donna) Hall of Raton, Mother-in-law Sadie Piper of Hooker, OK., Father-in-law Richard Martinez of Hooker, OK. Also survived by siblings Jimmie Hall of Raton, Dana (Rick) Hall of North Port, FL., Vince Martinez of Hooker, OK., Brenda (Scott) Thomlinson of Hooker, OK., Jacqueline (Vernon) Hall of Trinidad, CO., Brent Hall(Karyn) of Raton.
Tracy was born on February 2, 1965 in Raton and attended Raton Public Schools, which he graduated from in 1983. He began employment with Pendleton Oil & Gas company while attending high school, which is when he found his love of cars and mechanics. Tracy became a very good mechanic and built his very first car engine while in high school. He saved enough money to buy the first love of his life, his 1968 Chevelle. With blood, sweat and tears he was able to completely restore his Chevelle and up to the day of his passing he cherished that car. Tracy also worked for his mother in law’s Restaurant as a host/bookkeeper/maintenance and manager this is where he met and visited with numerous lifetime friends. He became a friend to anyone who walked through the door and greeted everyone with a shy but welcoming smile.
Tracy met the love of his life Cindy, on New Year’s Eve of 1987; he immediately fell in love and asked her to marry him 3 weeks later. They were officially married on July 15, 1989 and knew their love would last a lifetime. They began their family in 1990 with the birth of their first son Tracy Jr. (TJ) and completed their family in 1994 when their second child Troy was born. The role of a father was second nature to Tracy, and he immediately found his calling in fatherhood. Tracy became a mentor, role model and best friend to his boys and would remain that for the entirety of his life. Although Tracy was ill, this did not stop him from complete involvement and support in his boys’ lives. Many of their fondest memories include their dad attending every practice, game and big event in their lives. This love multiplied with the birth of each of his 5 grandchildren. He traveled near and far to ensure that he was present at each of their births and special events despite his ongoing health concerns. Family was of the upmost importance to Tracy and the love he had for them never wavered.
Tracy was diagnosed with Alpha1 Antitrypsin Deficiency in 1999 and became disabled shortly afterward. From that day forward he fought a battle with lung disease, he was hospitalized numerous times for the next 23 years and his lungs continued to deteriorate. In 2009 Tracy had lung reduction surgery in hopes that he would have a quality life for another 10 years, 9 years later his lungs deteriorated even more, and he was placed on the lung transplant list. On June 22, 2019, Tracy had a double lung transplant, although the recovery was very tough, he fought strong and hard and overcame every obstacle. After the transplant Tracy regained an amazing quality of life and could be seen throughout Raton walking daily. The progress he made daily was inspiring to many. Tracy met and conquered numerous health issues throughout his life and there was not a moment that he ever gave up the fight inside of him. Tracy became an inspiration and hero to so many and will live in the hearts of those who love him forever. Tracy will be missed immensely but we will rest knowing that he is no longer suffering and is breathing deeply and clearly in heaven.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Raton, NM with Pastor Cory Flanigan, Officiating.
Arrangements for Tracy Lee Hall are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
