Trogon Vaught Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 2, 2009.
T.A. "Joe" Vaught, 82 passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009 at home while resting peacefully. Originally from West Virginia he spent his adult life in the Williamsburg area after returning home from service to our country, which he loved dearly, in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a loving and caring husband and father, with an incredible faith in his savior Jesus Christ. His passion for his wife Loretta, children, and grandchildren were very evident as he made provision and sacrifice without hesitation or complaint. He remained faithfully be his wife's side during her fight with breast cancer, as she remained faithfully by his side through his moment of passing. After singing lead vocals for the Vaught Brothers Quartet, and the Tidewater Quartet, his enjoyment of southern gospel music, and hymns of praise never diminished. As a past member of James River Baptist Church and a long standing member of Greensprings Chapel, he loved the fellowship and celebration while spending quality time with his friends, participating in special music and church plays and productions. Survivors include his beloved wife Loretta Anne Nichols Vaught of Williamsburg, his brother Larry Vaught of Hampton, his daughters; Ava Grant of Charlotte, NC, Beverly Vaught of King William, Patricia Pierce of Mobile, AL, and Vikki Ryan of Newport News; his sons, Mickey Vaught of Charlotte, NC, Ron Vaught of Williamsburg, Joseph Vaught of Williamsburg, John Abbot of Gloucester, Jeffery Abbot of Seaford. He also loved and enjoyed his 26 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and his many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, from 6 to 8pm, at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 7 at 10am, at Greensprings Chapel by Pastor Bob Atkins, with the committal to follow at Williamsburg Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to return to Greensprings Chapel immediately after the committal service for light snacks and fellowship in the Fireside Room. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. at www.nationalbreastcancer.org On-line condolences may be registered at www.nelsencares.com.
