In memory of
James Halkias
October 24, 2022
I haven't seen Troy since he was about 16 but grew up in the same neighborhood. He was always very nice to me. I remember his huge beer can collection in his bedroom, and playing football, basketball, baseball, riding bikes, doing landscaping, snow shoveling, etc. He was always very honest, helpful and full of energy. I even remember being kidnapped along with him by his big sister and her friends in the Stocks house when it was being built and they wouldn't let us leave unless he kissed his sister which he really didn't want to do but did it anyway so we could be released. very funny memories. Rest in Peace Troy

I am saddened to hear of Troy's passing. While it has probaly been more than 20 years since I last had contacat with Troy, I think it is safe to say we had our share of good times and even some good "trouble", the kinds all kids and teenagers growing up get into. Troy and I become friends in elementary school and remained friends until high school graduation took us separate ways in life. Life is so busy and time passes by so fast but it is nice to take just a few minutes and reflect back on some of the fun and terrific times I had growing up as a kid, knowing Troy - I am just very sorry it is under these sad circumstances. Best wishes to the entire family.

Elaine and Family,
So sorry to hear about Cole. My thoughts are with you. You do know he is in a better place and as my father's doctor told me when my husband died -- he could have lasted a long time the condition he was in. It's hard but time heals all.

Elaine, Heather, Tania, and Meghan,
It was 30 years ago, when young boy full of energy and life knocked on my door and asked the new family on the block " Are there any kids here that I can play with?" Troy was my first friend in Harrisburg, and we shared many joyous special times. He was a FRIEND. Regardless of the ups and downs of youth and teenage years, he remained a friend. That says a tremdous amount about who he was, loyal through and through.
Although I lost touch with Troy, he was always on my mind during Steeler Sundays, it was a passion we sharded and acted out on the streets and yards of the old neighborhood to many times to count. They are some of my favorite memories of my youth.
It was about Three years ago we reconnected, my brother had taken care of him at a local dialysis clinic. Troy saw the name tag on my brother's chest and connected the dots. An hour or so latter we were on the phone, and talking like almost no time had gone by. We shared lunch and a hug that day. Words can't express my joy in finding a lost friend.
My heart and prayers go out to you ladies. I hope that you know that Troy touched many other lives as he touched mine. He will be missed.
My Deepest Condolences,
Sol Mirin

Elaine, your Daughter Ladies and John:
As the well written o-bit said, Troy had some struggles in his shortened life. I only had the pleasure of meeting him once, (at both our favorite sport: a thoroughbred race track) but was thoroughly impressed with his turn-around and was left with the impression he had great future. We all have shared some of his struggles in our own family and our friend’s families and I was looking forward to hearing about his improving lifestyle.
May his soul rest in peace - Amen.

It's a darn shame. I will never forget our special memories with Troy Boy, the good times we all had and his flair for dry humor. Love all of you,

I am so sorry for your loss. I only knew Troy for a few months but the impact he had on me will be lasting. I found him to be full of life, a dreamer, inelligent, and full of empathy for those who had it worse. Although our relationship was professional I considered him a friend. I know he is in a better place now.
