Troy was a great person, I regret not being able to be at the funeral. However, I traveled down to Gadsden and waited for him to get back in his office. We had a good visit. Troy was my supervisor in all of my assignments. Early on I got out of the national guard and Troy told me to get back in, I did and retired last year. He supported me throughout my career. He was the most patriotic person in the leadership of the police department.

Many moons ago a Gadsden police officer pulled me over for running a stop sign. I had been doing something I shouldn't have been doing and the evidence was long gone but he could still smell it in the vehicle. He had a long talk with me and gave me the phone number of someone affiliated with drug rehabilitation and suggested I make the call. I made the call and have been drug free ever since. I didn't know til I read the obituaries that he was still with the force but I am glad to see he had a long career with the department. My heart and my prayers go out to his family and my gratitude goes out to the man who saved my life. Captain Troy Higdon, I salute you sir! May you rest in peace.

Kecia,
You know I am very sorry but Troy is in a better place. You had so many great times together. You were always there for him. Troy would want you to go on and live your life. You did everything the right way and did all you could , you allowed Troy to go out with his pride, he would not have wanted it any other way. I am always here in spirit and only a phone call away. I love you and I loved Troy we go back so many years. Best 2 friends I have ever had.

Dear Kecia, Troy Jr. and Family:

It is with a very sad heart that I read of the passing of Troy. I started working in the Gadsden Police and Fire Communications Center about a year and a half after Troy started working at Gadsden PD. It was a pleasure to work with and to know Troy. When he would stop by communications, he would always have a big smile on his face and would make us laugh with something that he would say. I can't remember not seeing him without that smile. When Troy was doing his job he was all business, but you could depend on him to be fair, sincere and dedicated in whatever he was doing. Troy was an asset to the Gadsden Police Department and the citizens of Gadsden, the personal and animals at Tigers for Tomorrow, and will be missed by all that knew him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, Troy Jr. and the family, at this enduring time in your lives. May God Bless, Comfort and Keep you all, now and in the coming days ahead........

Kacia and Troy Jr., I have lost touch with many of you since leaving Gadsden. I heard about Troy's passing before teaching a class yesterday and was devastated by the news. The tragedy is starting to sink in this morning and I find myself very depressed. Troy was such a special person whom always treated me with respect and friendship. He will be sorely missed and my heartfelt condolences go out to both of you.
