Trudy ( Gitty) Brener Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 14, 2024.
Trudy Gertrude Brener (née Kastor), known to all as Gitty, played her final hand at the age of 91 in Los Angeles, California, on Aptil 25, 2024.
Born on February 28, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois to a Jewish family ,
Gitty dealt a lifetime of love and laughter to everyone she met.

Gitty's game of life was one of devotion and joy. She and her beloved husband, Jack, hit the jackpot with more than 70 years of marriage, spending many a glittering night trying their luck with the one-armed bandits and playing their cards right on the Las Vegas strip. A master of the motherly arts and a grand champion to her grandchildren, Gitty almost made it to the celebration of their college graduations, just falling short by a month.

Leaving behind a winning legacy are her children, Gary and Joel; her ace grandchildren, Brandon, and Ryan; her partner-in-crime, her daughter in law, cousin Cookie; and Jerrry whose she grew up with, and a full house of other relatives and neighbors. Gitty's high spirits and zest for life precede her in passing, along with her husband, Jack; her son, Eddie "Fast Eddie"; her lifelong sidekick, Mickey; and a royal flush of dearly departed family members.

In lieu of flowers, place your bets on kindness and consider a donation to "Stand up to Cancer" in Gitty's memory. She played all her cards with grace and wit, and for those who knew her, the world will be a little less bright without Gitty's sparkling shuffle through life.
