I am so sorry to hear about this loss. I remember one of the most anticipated milestones in my life was graduating from "Skateland" and going to "The Vermilion Room"! Thank you Goggins family countless positive memories and good times. I'm wishing you hope in the midst of sorrow, comfort in the midst of pain.

As I hope that comfort of the loss of your love one, Trunnis was more of a father figure to me than a boss. I worked at the Skateland for many years and actually watched his lovely daughters grow up into beautiful women. I miss them all. My sincere prayers go out to the Goggins family. [email protected]

Dear Goggins family,
I fondly remember great times at Skateland; which was one of the few places my father would allow me to frequent, only because of your father's care and concern for the well-being of young people. "Mr. Trunnis," as I was taught to call him, was a great man, an innovator, and entrepreneur. He helped to shape many lives of young people who would go on to accomplish much, as productive members of our community and society. In retrospect, I appreciate his hard work, and love for all of you, and his community. Now, at 60, I am a decorated Air Force Veteran; an educator; and a minister of 30 years. So I pay tribute to my own parents, and to men like "Mr. Trunnis," a member of my "village" who contributed to my success, and I pray that each of you will be blessed to know that others are thinking of you. Sincerely, Rev. Betty Pierce-Williams, Assistant Pastor, Elim Christian Fellowship

You were such an integral part of the black community/you gave so many children a chance to have fun and stay off the streets, my mother a place to play bingo and my older siblings a place to party! You were a true pioneer and philanthropist and father figure to so many. Your joyous, heartfelt voice and genuine care for the community will be missed dearly! May god usher you into heaven and say "well done my good and faithful servant"! May god be with your family and the community of the lives you touched so deeply~may your legacy live on forever.

Turnnis is a Buffalo icon. When people mention the name Trunnis, one immediately thinks of the Vermillion Room, Skateland, and being treated with respect. Trunnis, a successful black business person, worked hard for thousands to enjoy partying and an opportunity to meet great people, like himself. He will be missed, however spirit remains strong.

Dear Sue- Trunnis will ALWAYS be remembered for his lively, happy and fun ways. The Vermillion Room was where we "go up to get down!" There was fun to be had for all. You were always friendly and made everyone feel at home. My prayers are with you Sue and with the ENTIRE family. Trunnis has made his mark on this life. May the Lord keep all of his loved ones wrapped in His peace. He did not realize until now what a force he has been in the lives of many. Trunnis has family that does not share his bloodline. Everyone who went to Skateland and the Vermillion Room will always be family to Trunnis and Sue. RIP Mr. Trunnis.

To Mrs. Goggins and Family. I am truly at a loss for words. The memories of Skateland, the Vermillion Room, working the Bingo games with the different organizations are just a few of the good days and times Mr. Goggins allowed so many, including myself, to take part in. Those were the days. He will truly be missed. May God bless you and your family. Take care.
