Thinking of your family on this difficult day. Hard to believe it is 8 years already. I know Tyler lives in your hearts forever no matter the time.

November 25, 2008
It has been 3 long months since Tyler's death. I wish I could say it is getting easier, but I would be lying. Memories are all we have now and I appreciate everyone writing and sharing with us their memories of Tyler. He had so many fun years growing up on Mathison Place with all his friends and adventures.
It gives me a wee bit of solace knowing that Tyler died in the forest, amongst the trees that had called his name from a very early age.

Occasionally it takes a while for sad news like this to travel to distant friends, yet I am still very shocked.
Tyler was a great friend to me in my childhood and I carry many happy memories of him and all the fellow kids of Mathison Place. Great times like our lemonade & cedar budlet scent stands, fishing off the city park walkway bridge for white fish, endless hours of pools and the Okanagan lake, and playing army up and down Abbott Street through everyone's back yard still seem like just yesterday. All of these great times that I still cherish to this day.
I am comforted reading that 'Ty' had many people who thought so highly of him, of which does not surprise me at all. He was an incredible person, with a great energetic personality and full of true heart.
I send my deepest condolences to Jenny, Terry, Andrew, Patrick and Kelly. I am proud and honored to have had friendship with him, and he will be truly missed.

Dear Jenny, Terry and Families,
I have been so struggling with this because writing to you means I must acknowledge that this tragic accident actually happened - so inconceivable - impossible to understand. I am very, very sorry for your loss - for all of you. I know you will miss Tyler terribly but I also know that in time the sadness will be replaced by all the happy memories of the times you shared.
Thinking of you, Daphne

I and all of those that were fortunate to know you will miss you dearly.
Rest in Peace my dear Stepson..you will be in my thoughts and prayers everyday...Love Linda

I got given a gift by my roommate the other day. It said "Follow not where the path may lead, but instead go where there is no path and leave a trail." This made me think of Tyler because its truly the way he lived his life. Tyler loved the unknown, yet always made time for all of his friends. He was one of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of being friends with.
I will never forget all our great memories. Forever in my heart Ty.

Tyler was one of the most genuine and honest people I have ever met. Throughout my years of knowing Tyler I never saw him in a bad mood, and his sense of humour allowed Tyler to laugh much more than most. With great regret I say Goodbye.

Tyler was absolutely a wonderful person - someone that you come across in life and never forget. He lit up the room with his smile, laugh and twinkle in his eyes. It has been years since I saw Tyler but it doesn't seem like it...I am so sorry that I won't have a chance to see him again. My deepest sympathies.

Some of my favourite childhood memories are with Tyler. Like trying to suvive Terry's tube rides on Lake Okanagan, playing road hockey on Mathison Pl., playing poker for nickels and dimes in the basement of 177, boxing on the trampoline, pretty much just being kids. I am priviledged to have shared my kid years with Tyler. Terry, Jenny, Andrew, Patrick and Kelly, my thoughts are with you guys.

Jenny and Terry,
My father sent Corwin, Jonathan, and I a note this morning about the terrible news of Tyler's passing. I remember babysitting Tyler and watching him grow up on Mathison Pl. He was a great kid - so much energy so much fun - and I am sure he grew into a great man. Words cannot express our sympathy - know that your family is in our families' thoughts and prayers.

Tyler you were a spectacular individual, and I witness your love and light when I am around your family as they put one heavy foot in front of the other. The void you have left is vast, but the memories and your spirit could not be any closer. You are loved and will be deeply missed

Although it has been a few years since I had the pleasure of spending any real time with Tyler, there were many years spent together growing up in the backyard of Mathison Pl. Down by the lake, in the tree fort, bouncing on the trampoline, or playing marco polo in our pool, it was always nice to have a neighbour who was around my age to hang out with. Tyler was always kind and full of energy. His smile and sense of humor was infectious. It was always great to catch up during christmases at Big White, in lift lines, or at Sam's. I am shocked and saddened by Tyler's passing, my deepest sympathy goes out to Terry, Jenny and the family.

Tyler and I were classmates together for four years at UBC.
Whether it was cracking a joke that made the entire class laugh, answering a question that no one else could or going out of his way to make someone feel more comfortable, I personally witnessed his positive influence on a daily basis.
Tyler was truly an inspiration to those of us who were lucky enough to meet him. He will never be forgotten.

I had the privilege of working with Tyler for a few months at Gorman Bros., and was always impressed by his ability to do the right thing. He was an amazing personality, brilliant, witty and above all, humble. He and I shared some great fall days out in the woods, and I'm a better person for the time we spent discussing "everything from soup to nuts".
Strength and peace to the family - Tyler left you with plenty to be proud of.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Tyler during his academic career with us in the UBC Faculty of Forestry. We were all so shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. He was such a bright student, so full of promise, with a fantastic future ahead of him. He was so well-respected and well-liked by Faculty, staff and fellow students alike here at UBC. His photo is proudly hanging in the atrium of the Forest Sciences Centre along with all his fellow Class of 2008 Forestry graduates. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and many friends at this difficult time.
