i wasn't great friends with Tyler and only knew him by name and sight but everyone adored him. My brother shared memories of Tyler with me and I know that was not easy for him. I lost my best friend at a young age too and can relate to all of you. I have you all in my thoughts and prayers along with his close friends and the rest of his fellow classmates. It hurts me that I never had the chance to really get to know Tyler like many of the other students here at North Star High. May he forever stay not only in our thoughts but also live in ouur hearts and through each of us in nothing but good.

Dear Shaffer Family,

Even though I just started talking to Tyler this year, he is one of the best people that I have ever met. He always knew what to do to cheer everyone up. I want to thank him for getting me excited about the musical and making this the best experience of my life. My first year in the musical would have been nowhere as amazing as it was without him. I will never forget Tyler, and he will always be in my heart. He is loved and missed by all.

April 30, 2008

Dear Shaffer Family,
You're in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so sorry about your loss. Tyler was truly an amazing person, with a great personality and a tendency to make everyone around him smile. I wish that I could have spent more time getting to know him even better, but I am very grateful for the memories that I have of him. He definitely had a positive impact on my life as well as the lives of many others, who were fortunate enough to know him. I will never forget Tyler or the memories that I have of him from band and other events. He did a wonderful job in the musical and really made me laugh with his unique voice. Tyler was an extremely talented guy, and the best drummer I know.
Although we all miss Tyler and are upset by this unexpected event, we must remember that our loss is Heaven's gain; and I'm sure that all of Heaven is rejoicing for their newest addition, a very special, gifted, amazing young man.

To the entire Shaffer family,

It's been a few years since I've talked to Tyler, and I now regret that. However, I know I'll always have the memory of that smiling face. He was one of the best people I ever knew, from kindergarten all the way to twelfth grade. He taught us all how to laugh, and how to live. Though I know you all (especially Kathy) to be strong people, it is always difficult to deal with the loss of a life. Please know that so many people's prayers are and will be with you, mine included. I thank all of you, and especially Tyler, for your contributions to so many lives. His final lesson to me is to cherish what I have and never forsake it. I, along with everybody I know, love you all, and will always have you in my prayers. God bless your whole family.

The littlest guy I knew had the biggest heart I ever saw.

I've been in and out of your home many times since I was in kindergarten, and every time I was always welcomed by each member of your family's kindness and compassion. I remember always seeing Tyler leaving to go somewhere. Now, I wish I would have gotten to know him the way I know Luce and El. Even though I never got to talk to him, he was such an inspiration to me. He couldn't have been a better person, and I hope to end up half as amazing as he did. I can't even come close to understanding the pain you must feel at this time, but I want you to know that Tyler and you all are in my prayers. God bless both the Shaffer's and Thomas's.

I never got to know Tyler personally, but I know what he means to my brother. I remember when I was younger, I rode my bike down the road you live on and saw him playing with his sister Lucy. I didn't know that was Tyler then, I didn't know that was where you lived then, but that was the first time I met him.
I know that many people will think about him every day. Little things in life will provoke a memory of him. In those memories, and in the impressions he left on the lives he touched, Tyler is still with you all.

Mrs. Shaffer, thank you for asking after me. I wanted that to be the most recent news of your family. You should never have had to experience this, but I know you are all loving, good and strong and you will all pull through.

Dear Shaffer Family,
Although I never new Tyler that well I still have heard wonderful things about him. He was a wonderful kid who cared alot about others more than himself and from that, noone will ever forget him.
You are all in my prayers.

Tyler was a great guy who could make anyone laugh. Due to unpreventable causes, however, he is not with us anymore. But it is this time that we look to the Lord the most.

"Then He said to her, 'Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.'" - Luke 8:48

God is there for us when we need Him. He will heal our wounds that may be caused from the pain of this incident. I will miss Tyler greatly as I'm sure many others will. Keep the Shaffer family in prayer and in thought as they go through this struggle.

To the Shaffer Family.
We will all miss Tyler. There are many other ways to put it but that is the only way that I can think of.

I am so sorry to hear about Ty.

The best advice I can give is, from here on out, take one moment at a time.

One day, you will see, the pain is a little less, and then you will realize you got through a day without crying.

He will always be missed, and loved.

He and Eric can tear it up together again.

You will all be in our thoughts.
