Just learned of this recently. Val and I worked together many times at old #15. Great guy and good man. Not much more to say other than, "It's gonna take some time, this time, to get myself in shape." He is missed and extreme condolences are rendered. RIP, my friend.

Our deepest sympathy to you and your family, Ann! You know that I worked with Val for many years, at #15, #9 and until I retired from #7. We were good friends for many years. Don't know how we lost contact...

I will miss him a lot , he was my neighbor who was always there for anything , good things as well as not so good , he was my 2 sons mentor sharing his experience hunting and fishing with them, when my son's mother died he was there, the first Christmas after she was gone he came over knocked on my front door and gave each a good fellow Christmas package which still brings tears to my eyes , he was my best man when I got married, I could write several more pages of things we shared , but the most important, he was my best and dearest friend. Val, thank you and may God be with you, John, John IV, and Scott Kacir

Val and I had many occasions to work together out of # 15 and # 9. He was one officer you could always count on to back you and he would always have your back. He also taught everything me about working the cell block. I'll miss you buddy for you are out of pain and in a much better place.

I worked with Val during the late 70"s & early 80". He was a great partner and a truly loyal, loyal friend. We did not see each other for the past few years but I always thought about Val and Ann and the kids. I should have made time to spend some time with Val. My condolences to the family. I will be out of town for one week starting Sat Nov 5th. Sorry to miss the funeral.
