Valeria Marion Haselhuhn passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024 at the age of 90. Born and raised in Duluth, MN, where she attended Cathedral High School, she enjoyed playing the saxophone and was a talented tap dancer which won her many awards. She studied for 2 years at the College of St. Scholastica before marrying her husband, Gary. After starting a family, they moved to St. Paul to continue life.

Val was a busy and hardworking soul. Raising four children, a few dogs, caring for her disabled mother, while holding a part time job in retail or working as a full-time bookkeeper, she was a constant whirlwind of activity. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to own a balloon decorating business and eventually to co-found Midwest Enneagram Outreach, along with her husband Gary, after pursuing her certification as an Enneagram teacher.

Val was admired for her limitless creativity. She was a wiz with a needle, be it sewing, embroidery, knitting, or crocheting. Her eye for detail, precision, and superior fine motor skills resulted in perfectly constructed garments, whimsical crafts, and beautiful holiday décor to say the least. During the holiday season her delightfully decorated home was the envy of the neighborhood. Val also dabbled in the arts of jewelry making, hand painting garments, and card making. She was a natural at planning and hosting parties of every kind, with her unending unique ideas. Her creativity even spilled over into her clever, innovative solutions to common everyday problems.

Val had an adventurous spirit with a passion for travel. The family enjoyed many camping and fishing trips, spent time at the family cabin, and embarked on long road trips to many historical sites along the East coast. Later, Val and Gary enjoyed extensive travels throughout the United States and across the globe. Winters during their retirement years were spent in their home in Green Valley, AZ.

Val selflessly gave her time volunteering for various organizations and was a strong advocate for family members and those around her. Empathetic and compassionate, she was always concerned with the well-being of others. She was acutely intuitive to the needs of her family and friends. Being extremely supportive and dependable, she was quick to act on their behalf, putting the needs of others before her own.

Val engaged in many spiritual and personal growth retreats. She was keenly self-aware and strove to become a better version of her authentic self. A wise teacher, she encouraged those close to her to do the same.

Val loved all those around her unconditionally, leaving an example for all to follow.

She will be dearly missed but forever have a special place in our hearts.

Val is preceded in death by brother Leroy, and husband Gary. She is survived by son Scott, daughters Laurie, Lynn (Mark), and Anne (Kevin); grandchildren, Melissa, Sheryl, Katie, Jason, Jacob, Jessica, and Zach and ten great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to the staff at The Moments of Lakeville and Minnesota Hospice for their care and kindness given to our mom.

Lynn, she sounds like a fabulous woman. So interesting that she did Enneagram work. Love you sister, and know that I am holding you closely right now. Peace to you and your family.
