To Doug and Ted
Expressing my deepest sorrow in the loss of Valerie. Valerie and I met while teaching at Agincourt School, when she was newly embarking on her teaching career in the late sixties. We fell into friendship, and visited her while she was living in both Boston and Montreal. Valerie was a very vibrant and ambitious woman who obviously has touched and influenced many lives, so sorry for your loss. May God bless.

Dear Doug and Ted, I have so many fond memories of Valerie, dating back to when we met in a fiction writing workshop in 1991 and the writing group we started afterwards. We never managed to start the literary journal we dreamed about, but Valerie did one better by publishing those beautiful books on trees and Vimy Ridge. I watched with awe as she transformed herself into a singer and visual artist, as well as a writer. I am so sorry for your loss, and am thinking of you especially today.

Dear Doug and Ted, I am so sorry for your loss. Valerie and I were close friends and business associates during her Montreal years in the seventies and early eighties. She was a force of nature and a very talented, driven woman. I learned a lot from her and I have fond memories of working and playing together. My deepest condolences to you.

My deepest sympathy to Valerie's family and friends. So many years ago I shared 5 wonderful years with Valerie and friends in a wonderful book club through our mutual friend Julie. I am so thankful. It was a highlight of my years in Ottawa. Valerie was an inspired, intelligent, graceful and generous woman and a privilege to know. We all shared so much of life and laughter together. I have admired her from afar ever since. May her spirit live on in love. She truly was a beautiful person.

Dear Doug and Ted. I just discovered your, and all of our, loss via the E-UU. I am numb and lost for anything like adequate words. I will soon be moving back to Ottawa, and Valerie was one of the prime beacons of light guiding me back. She will forever be, in every way, one of the most incredible people I've ever had the privilege of spending time with. She really had an amazing life, and followed her dreams with determination and love. Healing lights and love to all of you.
In huge grief
