OBITUARY OF

Valerie Therese (Lichon) Davidson, 74, of Salem Oregon, passed away quietly in her sleep on Sunday 18 July 2021 at her home.

Valerie was born in Hammond Indiana to Joseph and Alice Sonnenberg Lichon on 13 February 1947 and attended school at TF North, Calumet City Illinois and the University of Illinois, Champaign Illinois. She married Ernest Brad Davidson on 17 August 1968 in Calumet City Illinois and throughout their 53 years of marriage resided in Los Angeles California, Shelton Washington, Downers Grove Illinois, and finally Salem Oregon. She was a full-time mother, later working as a medical receptionist for her brother and sister-in-law Drs. Francis and Nancy Lichon in Naperville Illinois. Valerie was an accomplished gardener and avid quilter spending countless hours at her quilting machine and in her gardens. In retirement, she and her husband spent many months traveling throughout the country in their RV known as the "FunMobile".

Valerie is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Alice and is survived by husband Brad, daughters Jessica L Davidson (partner Scott Arbogast), Blaine L Loffredi (Kevin), all of whom provided caregiver support, and by brother Dr. Francis Lichon (Nancy), grandchildren Dominic and Julia Loffredi, along with many beloved nephews, nieces, dear friends, and quilting buddies.

The family of Valerie wishes to extend sincere thanks to Doctors Olney and Libby and especially Nurse Ashley of Providence ALS Clinic, Mary Rebar of the ALS Association, Serenity Hospice of Salem Oregon especially Nurse JoAnn, and all of those who offered support to Valerie in her final months.

Valerie was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery's Columbarium on 11September 2023 so that in the future she may lay with her husband for the rest of time in a setting as big as her heart. She will be sadly missed by all those whose lives she touched, and her memory will live on in the flower seeds, beautiful quilts, and the love she shared.
