I have just heard the sad news. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Valerie and she was a wonderful support for NARS and ISM. She was always smiling and upbeat in all of our times working together and very tolerant of the 'academic timeframe'! My condolences and from all of us at SCMI in San Diego.

Valerie had the gift of making everyone feel like the best thing that happened to her was that she had a chance to talk with them. My sympathy to her family at this time.

Valerie was so many things...trouper, writer, manager, mom, wife and more. She was loyal, generous and, sometimes stubborn. All of which made her a special person to know care about.

I am so sorry for your loss, Valerie was a special person. I worked with her for the past 12 years; however, my fondest memories are our lunchroom chats. From books to recent events, Valerie always offered a delightful conversation. She will be missed.

Paul, Tony & Amy:
In sorrow, we mourn those lost. In gratitude, we embrace those around us. In sympathy, we reach out to those who grieve. Please know that there are others that share your sorrow. Val "is" a wonderful lady that is sharing her love of sunflowers with Christ in his eternal garden. She helped me with comfort and peace during Weekend 128 when I lost my son just two weeks before. Smile Val, Smile. Your greatest joy was making other people happy.
Love in Christ...always

Paul, Amy & Tony - I am so sorry and sad about Val. She was one of my closest cousins and as little girls we said we were sisters because neither of us had one! We would stay overnight at Grandma & Grandpa Havir's and play dolls for hours! She was a sweet & gentle soul who blossomed when she met Paul. I'm glad for the wonderful life & family Paul gave her. She will be missed! Love, Cousin Pat (Hreha)& Terry Cook

Dear Paul, Amy, Tony, & family-We are all so sorry for your loss. Valerie was always one of my favorite Scout & Band moms! She was always there for our kids, whether it was helping out at our Blue & Gold Banquet or helping me slap together "Bandwiches". Valerie was one of the most cheerful, positive people I've ever met with her sweet nature & her Minnesota accent! Her kindness & her service to others will truly be missed. Our hearts go out to all of you - Mike,Terri, & Andrew Lewellen
