Valerie Kelsall Obituary
Growing up, Valerie was very involved with her Polynesian culture and dancing hula with her family group. She competed and won the title of Miss Samoa Southern California in 2005 and traveled to Samoa where she was crowned 1st runner-up in the official Miss Samoa pageant. Valerie was a pitcher in the Scottsdale Miss Softball league and played softball, volleyball and basketball at Coronado High School. She graduated from Coronado in 2003 and attended Scottsdale Community College for two years. Valerie had a love for music and played the flute, the guitar and sang in the choir. Her infectious smile and loving heart will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

I worked with Val for a short time and then continued working and socializing with her sister Caroline for nearly 13 years. I have never met a more beautiful woman in my life than Val. Our deepest condolences go to the whole family including the extended family and friends. Aloha Val

I cannot express and shock and sadness I felt when I recently found out of Val's passing. Linda and Steve you have been the closest family to my dad. Val and Carol both accepted me when I first started dancing with Mata Lena. Val and I had so many things in common with dance, volleyball, and school. She was beautiful, smart, talented, and genuinely a caring person. I am so so sorry for your loss. I pray for strength, courage, comfort, and peace for your entire family during this most difficult time.

I am so very sorry for your loss. My most cherished memory of Val is her volunteering to do my hair and make-up on my wedding day. She spent hours perfecting the look, and at the same time, making jokes and staying calm for me. That was just Val being Val - caring, giving, laughing and singing. Words can't express how sorry I am to hear of Valerie's passing. She had such a sweet and kind soul. Always happy and always smiling. I will always remember the first time I met her. I moved to AZ when I was 8 and Val was my very first friend I had here in 2nd grade. She was the only one that didn't make fun of me and I will always be grateful for her for doing that. My kamali'i and I had the pleasure of meeting Val along with Ms Linda and Caroline when my tita Danalynn and her kamali'i Julian, Brianna and Deion performed with them with KaeaMaunaLani. When we visited Arizona for the Aloha Festival, I'd attend practices with my tita and Val, all of you were so kind and humble. Her performances was so beautiful and graceful and will surely be missed. Im grateful for uploading videos to YouTube of some of KaeaMaunaLani's performances at the Aloha Festival.
