HI Willie and Joyce, I'm not sure if you remember me or not but I was your neighbor in Elgin when I was a kid. I used to play with your kids when we were all little. This is Linda Singles. I found this completely by mistake and feel terrible about it. I think of all of you often. Please get in touch to say hi and let me know if there is anything I can do. I live by Madison, Wi now. I lost my husband of 28 years almost 2 years ago, so maybe I can just be an ear to listen and understand a little. I cannot tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Risa was a wonderful woman who was beloved by all of us in Larkin Class of 1978. I regret I was out of town and could not attend her services.

Willie and Joyce and our Scruggs Family,
We were unable to be in attendance at the homegoing celebration of Risa. What we do know is that Joyce's words still ring in our ears, "she is in the Ark of Safety." We had the blessing of her living with us in Akron, taking care of the little people who are now all in their 40s+; there are so many happy times that still flash through our hearts and minds of her smiles and reassuring words whenever she thought someone needed to hear something nice.
You all were blessed with her as a daughter and sister to her other siblings Ronald and Julia, and the mother of your wonderful grandchildren. We were blessed to have her be our niece, forever. We continue to pray for you all in whatever difficult moments you may have as you adjust to her absence here on earth. The Apostle Paul shares that her absence on earth is assurance of her presence with the Lord - 2 Corinthians 5:8.

Words cannot express the sorrow felt, however, the laugh I had in my thoughts of Risa telling Ma and Doc and I how my daughter told the Cav's at half time she was not a chicken and she wasn't going to be no chicken during half time brought back happy thoughts even the rides back and forth to the Airport together as well as rides to Illinois together! I know you knew the Lord and I know you're there with Him for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord! Walk around Heaven my dear friend!

Joyce, Willie and family. It's hard for me to express the grief I have in the loss of your beautiful,talented and loving daughter. I remember years ago when I was ill, Risa would come by every day to fix me breakfast and comb my hair and make sure that I was comfortable. She would sit and watch the soap opera's with me. I think of how talented she was with her dancing. I also remember the day she went to the prom and she looked so beautiful. God has another ANGEL with him in heaven. She is safe with the Lord and at peace.
