Ms. Velma has always been a part of my life. She was related to my mother, Mattie Jean Carter Simon. Ms. Velma always helped when ever anyone needed her. And she was always there for me when I lost my parents and my Aunt Donie. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and may God hold them close.

Loved this lady. Worked with her for many years and never heard her say anything unkind about anyone. She was truly a special lady. Linda Burney

Couldn't find a sweeter lady if you looked the world over! Aunt Velma always had a hug and a kind uplifting word for you. Never heard her say she didn't have time to serve anyone or anything. She will definitely be sorely missed.

Aunt Velma , It is evident to see through her posterity the influence Memaw, Velma ,or Aunt Velma, have had on her family . They are living what they have witnessed and now her family will carry on her legacy.
She spent endless hours serving in her church, family, community, and neighboring communities and churches.
Her total dedication to the Farris Cemetery, to make sure the records were kept accurately detailed. She was quite sharp at knowing how the family members were tied to the community and families and the burial locations.
Not only did she serve with her time, but when she saw a need, whether it be food, a visit, or monetary or just a helping hand.
She chose to quietly love and serve her fellow man in quiet endless ways even in days of her failing health.
You've earned your wings Aunt Velma . Until we meet again. We love you and will miss your presence, but we do know you are about your angel duties on the other side.

What I remember most of aunt Velma is her kindness and her hugs. No matter how low you were feeling a hug from her would make you feel better. Always. Love you aunt Velma!
