Velora L. Moyes Schurtz

Velora L. Moyes Schurtz St. George, UT - Velora L. Moyes Schurtz, born November 5, 1919, in Murtaugh, Idaho, to William R. and Minnie B. Moyes, died January 7, 2005, in West Jordan, Utah. Velora married Rudger C. Schurtz on November 21, 1935, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had five children and one foster son. She was a member of the LDS Church and she held many positions throughout her life. She worked hard and had many jobs during the years that they lived in Provo. Velora loved her family, and she loved to camp, fish, hunt, and do all sorts of cooking and crafts. Velora and Rudger lived many years in Provo, Centerfield, Hurricane, and Cedar City, Utah. She moved to West Jordan, in November 2004. She is survived by her three sons: Sherrel (Arlene), West Valley City, UT; Duane, El Paso, TX; and Dennis (Marilyn), Cedar City, UT; two daughters: Barbara (Silviano) Gonzales, Payson, UT; and Kay Lynn (Daniel) Garfield, Las Vegas, NV; and foster son; Russel (Lynda) Wilson, Redmond, UT; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, her parents, four brothers, two sisters and four grandchildren. Funeral services to be held Tuesday, January 11, 2005, 1 p.m., at the Hurricane LDS 7th Ward Chapel, 155 E. 1050 North, Hurricane, Utah. Viewing to be held Tuesday, 12-12:45 p.m., prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Enterprise City Cemetery, Enterprise, Utah, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary (435) 673-4221.
