Vera Leone Smith Tolbert

Vera Leone Smith Tolbert passed away peacefully on July 5, 2011, two days after celebrating her 95th birthday. She was born in Spanish Fork in 1916; one of four children and the only daughter of John Elmer Sr. and Vera Nelson Smith. She grew up in Spanish Fork, and graduated from Spanish Fork High School. She married Arthur Geslison, and he later passed away. She then married Kenneth Carl Tolbert in 1953, and he passed away in 1975. Leone worked for Del Monte Packing, Lerners, and Sweetbriar. She also volunteered many years as a Pink Lady for Orem Community Hospital. Leone was a talented seamstress, sharing many of her hand sewn items with family members. One of her hobbies was doing word search puzzles. Leone lived in Orem for 53 years. Leone is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Patterson, of Farmington and Bessie Rae Jensen of Heber; 7 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister in law, Lila Smith. Leone was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, brothers, John E. Smith, Eldon C. Smith, and Floyd Smith. Funeral services will be Friday, July 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork. Friends and family may call at the mortuary on Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Spanish Fork Nursing and Rehab Center for the care given to Leone for the past few years. They would also like to thank Mickey and Jose Delgado for their friendship.
